I do like him. Always had a soft spot for teams like Torino that have a gigantic neighbour (and a cunty one at that) and AB defo played a big part in them finishing P10 and conceding a pretty respectable number of goals...actually fewer than Inter, AC, Atalanta, Fiorentina. Had they been more potent offensively, they'd have finished in the European places.

He's big & strong, reliable (has had a few injuries but nothing major), relatively calm & composed (though gets a fair few yellows and would need to watch that in the PL), front foot kinda defender, chips in with the odd goal and assist (would likely get more with better quality around him). Still young enough to improve on his weaknesses. Now an Italy international like Vicario. Lots to like.

If we could get him for 15-20 mil (plus say Tangs or Rodon), I'd defo have him. One season playing backup to our new quality CB duo and he'd be ready to tear it up the following one. I'm probably more sold on he than Tapsoba and VdV...

In fairness, Maddison, like Bissouma and Richarlison, has a combination of willing seller (due to contract) and willing buyer that lets Levy feel like he's winning. I think going big on a centre half or two would be a giveaway but we'd need another splashy forward signing too (even if Richy plays there).

maybe Levy is thinking now is the time to spend big in order to retain our place in the "big six" and get back into european compitition, standing still will only see us falling further out of the picture which isnt good for business and keeping spurs as profitable as they are.


on the the hand we all know this club well enough and how it usually operates, and if we were suddenly in the next week or so to sign VdV jnr AND Tapsoba on top of maddison then i'd certainly raise an eyebrow and think something is up

If Tapsoba is the back up, who is the main pair?

and I still have never believed we will spend 50m+ on a CB this window.
