If Chiesa is coming, I expect to then see links with a spare Real Madrid midfielder like Valverde. I then expect to see Kane leave for 100m to Bayern or Real. We probably ain’t signing an elite player or two with Kane going the other way.

If an £80m player is coming to us that would make me very suspicious.

Chiesa is Church in Italian

PS .. Who is Jaco Cats?:sneaky:

Truffert (Rennes)
Caio Henrique (Monaco)

?
Decent enough shout, both good players.

Caio the more technically gifted of the two and can play higher up the pitch. Better end product too. He's 25 and a bit more experienced. Injury history pretty clear.

Truffert is only 21 but he's already got like 100 pro games with Rennes under his belt, new French international too. Gets a decent number of assists in the French league. He missed a 3rd of the season last year with a bad injury to his ankle IIRC so that's a concern.

Both quite short and tiny, Truffert reminds me of Lucas Digne. So would need to bulk up a little in the PL.

I'm fine with Big Ben and Udogie at LB to be fair, and if we brought somebody new in, I'd rather it'd be that English kid from Juve, Iling Jr.

I know these links are all likely drivel, but if we really are being linked to this many players, maybe we are spending the Kane money, in advance of accepting a big offer from Bayern.

If that is the case (again, not likely), we’re doing things the right way.

Liverpool Echo says 51m....

...And it doesn't get anymore legit than that. :ledley:

Kane also came through our academy, and he's not waaaaaaay better than Mount. You could find a dozen players as good as Mount, there's no one on Kane's level.

I was referring to you saying he (Mount) was a mistake.

Kane is goal scorer and they normally cost a premium but you get Kane for two potentially declining years, you get Mount for 6.

It’s an apples/oranges at different weights kind of equation.

Kane will still go for more.

Apparently he and the manager had a bust up?

But it's been 2 full seasons since he was actually.... good.

Feels like a big gamble for the price we'd probably have to pay.

Unless we're doing a 5 mill over the next 12 years kind of structure ;)

State of this though.....

We need to get players off the wage bill to really spend big money.

That finance guy Kieran Maguire said that the reason why Woolwich can spend big money is because their wage is under control, I think it's the lowest in the top 6.

Daniel isn't risking FFP anytime soon so he'll want some of our players out the door soon to free up the wage bill.
We’re way,way off FFP breaches.
I would assume it's a player who is good enough to play/be relied on heavily by his national team, but not at the level of consideration for a World/Europe-XI. Honestly it's a great term, because people abuse "World class" consistently and calling someone an "international" doesn't mean a whole lot in an age where FIFA/UEFA wring NTs dry scheduling a ton of matches meaning plenty of people get caps just based on the need for bodies.

Obviously uneven and nation dependent though. Being a national level CB for Germany is a lot different than being a national level CB for Ireland. And Rodon has shown being a national level CB for Wales is useless as fuck.
aah

I
I think we need a new one. Udogie looks a lot more attacking than defensive.
Think there's also a world where Udogie stays in Italy...he loves it over there and didn't really wanna move if you believe some reports. So if there was an offer for him from a top 6 Serie A club and we made a wee profit, then I wouldn't be that distraught to let him go without him having ever played for us.

Perhaps we can get someone HG and with better defensive skills & better suited to Ange's approach?

Re OUTS at LB, somehow I think we won't get rid of Sess, Reggy & Perisic in one window.
