Saw a little rumour about Chiesa to Spurs. I would love him here, but that would probably mean we had sold Kane if he comes. Well fuck it. I want Chiesa.
Whilst I would live the Chiesa of the Euros, not sure he truly exists now, if healthy and with enough of the dynamism left I’m all in, but there’s good reason he’s touted at what £45m and not been snapped up.

Absolute gamble, of NDombele financial proportions.

Ornstein on TS right now:

"Be it City previously or BM & Utd currently, Levy has never put a price-tag on Kane... Only reiterating that he's not for sale".

He said that he "believes" Kane is open to the idea of BM, but he's not putting any pressure on and the situation is nothing like City/2021.

That's the kind of super league we can join, they've won nothing, we've won a league cup during ENICs reign. Away games will be a bit of a trek though.
I think we’ve been looking at it wrong.

Europe is a closed shop. But, just like LIV golf, over the next decade, the petro states will assemble a series of elite teams and have them form their own international league. It will offer way more money for way less effort (far fewer games).

It’s not about current players; it’s the next generation. FIFA and UEFA will kick up a stink but money always wins out.

I'm fine with Ange having a good look at him during pre-season. Perhaps he wants to make him a DM again. He's defo got the passing range and if he's got 2 solid CB behind him and gets help from the two 8s + wingers to defend, perhaps he could get back to his best. Here's hoping. Maybe Ange sees him as just a backup anyway, be it at the 6 or at CB.

I'd rather he gets sold, but at the same time he's not the first one I'd wanna get rid off. We need English players, we ain't Chelsea or Woolwich. Eric knows the club inside out, he's loved & respected by players and the board. Not so long ago he played well enough to get back into the England convo. Maybe...maybe..there's that one last chance for him thanks to Big A.

Dier doesn't have the mobility for DM anyone, plus he crumbles when pressed, which would be a disaster for the #6 position in Ange's system.

But can a petro league sustain itself? Sure the league can afford to lose money for a few years but not forever.

And personally, I’ll never watch the petro league over English football, even if all the best players are there.

Pal, I know where you're coming from but come on...he didn't "blag his way this far".

You don't blag your way to playing over 300 pro games for Spurs, 50 odd caps for England, and score 20 ish goals as a defensive player. You just don't, you get found out way earlier.

Eric is what he is these days, no two ways about it, the lad's fallen off a cliff. But he once was a pretty solid contributor. Guy's played as a RB, DM, CM, CB. He's rarely injured or suspended. According to many reports, he's the type of guy who's first in, last out at practice. He defo has an ego and knows how to "play the game", is on the players' committee and all that...but he's also a dead clever guy, and apparently a very nice likeable bloke.

He's likely done at Spurs (probably with ENG too), but he's still got plenty footy in him. Just needs a league & a club where his skillset is a good fit. Bit like with Smalling at Roma.

If/when he does go, he should leave with our thanks and best wishes, not insults. As football fans, we're an emotional people...but when we think about things calmly & logically, that's when we get that a lad like Dier deserves our respect cause he's done more good stuff for the club than shit.
VERY good post.
