Only bringing this up again because of the formation leak but I just thought it sounded like his agent was touting him back to Italy and that the following comments maybe lost in translation. Interesting tidbit on how we will set up next season though leaking out via his agent.

Udogie’s situation is clear. He is a Tottenham player and we had contact over the last few days because they changed management and the coach will play 4-3-3 rather than 3-5-2.
Italians are scared he will adapt to being a different footballer than what they need him for on the national team.

He’s a future star wing back for Italy no question

Here’s the thing,

If Kane doesn’t sign a new contract this summer, we are essentially spending 90m plus wages for a 1 year loan.

As stubborn as Levy is, I can’t see any business person in their right mind doing that

Bayern better pay up then eh?

We've just seen the likes of Mount go for 60 odd million. Rice go for a record transfer fee for a British player.. Both with one years left on their deal.

We're talking about England and Tottenham all time top goalscorer. One of the greatest strikers of his generation... If people aren't willing to pay the price. That's not on us.

But best believe we arent spending with selling Kane in mind. We're spending because we have glaring holes in our squad and the need to rebuild is massive. Not getting European football was a massive blessing.

I agree.

If they don’t pay up, it’s because of Leverage.

We don’t have as much because of his contract.

1 year extension, everyone is good

Certainly be interesting to see what happens. Personally I think Kane will stay because no one will pay up knowing they potentially have a shot at him next season under much easier terms.

But regardless, we aren't spending money now with a view in mind to selling him like Bale, who was always destined to leave for Madrid that summer.

I thought that was a mistake then, and still do.
He had a bad season, yes. But I always felt he would come good again after totally getting over injury. He is still better than anyone we have in his position and would walk into our present side, imho.

Those saying it’s time to flog Son should reflect on what happened with Trippier. He had a bad season due to a chronic injury. That didn’t suddenly make him a bad player. We sold him 4 years ago and he is still miles better than any RB we’ve had since.

Really not sure about that last point.

So far our spending is like a toned down version of last summer.

If another 2 CBs and a winger come in, it would be unlike anything since 2013

Not sure why you would want to see Royal go. I expect he is going to excel in a back 4 and will be one of our best players next season.

If we opt for a smaller squad, possible that Tangaga could leave. But with Kane, Winks also linked to go, thats leaves us with only Austin and Skipp as our club trained players - that's rather embarrassing for a club with such incredible academy facilities

Sure makes me wonder if Walker Peters / Marcus Edwards will indeed be legitimate transfer targets.

Or, time to bring Dele home!
Not sure why anyone would expect Royal to excel in any system.

He’s incredibly limited, formation won’t change that.

I think that's a bit harsh.

He's probably just as limited as Porro but in different ways. Emerson is fantastic defensively, limited offensively. Porro is fantastic offensively, limited defensively.

Got a strong feeling Emerson is going to be relatively useful this season.

And in fairness to the guy, he really started turning his form around as the season progressed. Clearly has a great attitude and commitment to improving and working hard - I think Ange will really appreciate that.

Final point on Royal is attitude and mentality.

On paper, he's the first guy to click with everything Postecoglou talks about for mentality.

Not fussed if Royal goes or stays. One of our best players?!! We just need to churn, if offers come be ruthless and sell.

Absolutely zero reason to keep Tangana. The academy facilities are shiny but woefully underinvested and mismanaged
I laughed when I read 'churn' but I was thinking yesterday we seem to stick with players for a very long time, hoping they will turn a corner, it's almost like domestic abuse mentality (I know it's really not) whereby we think "one more time".

Maybe we need to try a different strategy of signing more players, perhaps on less money, and flip if they aren't 100% suited. I understand this is easier said than done and it's not football manger, but for most clubs what would be the success rate of signings?

1 in 5?

Our decent signings will end up being like ships in the night, as one goes out another comes in.

Perhaps taking a £2m hit on players is worth it if that fifth player turns into a gem. Their value will well outstrip the losses.

Clearly i'm on drugs this morning
