This is the kind of Brighton/Brentford signing for 12-15m that we are meant to be expecting from the club.

He’s also young and plays both wings.

It might be too big a step to expect him to play in the first team immediately, but there's nothing to stop us buying him and loaning him out to the Bundesliga or Serie A.

In my view, it's crazy to identify a real talent, but then wait until he makes a name for himself before trying for him, you just increase the chances that a bigger club, or one prepared to pay stupid money to him, will snap him up.

If he doesn't work out, you move him on. It's highly unlikely that you'll take much of a financial hit.

But if he works out? Well then you have a gifted player who adds to the first team, and all for relative peanuts.

Young'ish. At 22 you’re supposed to be a full grown man in modern football. For the record I'm all for buying cheap young prospects, I'm just not entirely sure about Isaksen's potential

Brighton seem to be buying as young as possible bringing in these 18 year olds in Enciso and Buonanotte which eventually would see them club trained - bonus. One I've always enjoyed watching for Benfica in the Youth League is 18 year old left footet winger, Diego Moreira, who's contract is up today. That would be the kind of signing I'd like

I'd never seen him play before this morning.. just skimmed through the game they lost 4-0 to Sporting. He looks decent, his first few steps are extremely quick and long, good speed, good trickery and carrying, had a few really nice touches and looked MidtJylland's most dangerous player by a distance, set up
a good chance that the striker fluffed. Looks a bit light, would be a massive jump in league, weight on his reverse passes to onrushing fullback were inconsistent. I wouldn't mind us making transfers like this tbh, once the scouting is thorough and the coaching set-up is open to developing players. But this guy does strike me as the type that should go to Sassuolo or someplace like that. PL is very physical.

He does most of the things you'd want from a wide attacking player, but I am concerned whether he's capable of seamlessly slotting in when space gets compressed and time is halved. I'm not gonna cry if we buy him, cos the financial damage won't be too damaging

That's fair.

We do appear to be gaining momentum with a few of our peripherals though, so there's that.

Also, if it's about getting the talent early, with a view to loaning them out to develop, I don't see them having too much of an impact on squad numbers. Chelsea have been doing this for years.
Loris going so new keeper. Needed Maddison. Might have to sell a centrebacks or 2 to get new ones in, not necessarily because of money but ,as you say, a bloated squad.

Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane is getting "closer and closer" to Bayern Munich with Spurs and the Germans "negotiating to reach an agreement".

Who is leaving Spurs this summer?
Ange Postecoglou's arrival marks the beginning of a new era and the return of attacking football at N17, with the Australian already receiving chairman Daniel Levy's backing before he's even officially started.

The former Celtic boss is set to begin his reign as Spurs manager tomorrow but has already seen both goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and playmaker James Maddison join his new club permanently.

They're also chasing a new centre-back signing, with talks reportedly ongoing for Micky van de Ven of Wolfsburg and Bayer Leverkusen's Edmond Tapsoba.

To fund these moves, though, Levy and the north Londoners will need to generate cash through player sales - and there are plenty of squad members to choose from.

Hugo Lloris, Ivan Perisic, Davinson Sanchez, Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Ben Davies have all been linked with exits, while Spurs could also look to offload Giovani Lo Celso, Sergio Reguilon and Tanguy Ndombele (The Telegraph).

Harry Winks is thought to be already on his way to Leicester City, while one player who Spurs definitely won't want to part ways with is Kane.

Spurs have already rejected a £60 million verbal offer from Bayern Munich in recent days, but according to TUTTOmercatoWEB, the Bavarians are coming back in again.

This time, they're set to offer an all-in bid of around £70 million for Kane, with TMW's headline stating Kane is getting "closer and closer" to Bayern.

Both Tottenham and Thomas Tuchel's side are allegedly in "constant contact", whilst "negotiating to reach an agreement" around the £70m fixed base.

Levy, though, is demanding a minimum of £86m for Kane, according to this report.

What's been said about Harry Kane?
The 29-year-old has been praised throughout his career, and for good reason.

Kane is both Spurs' all-time top goalscorer, having recently surpassed the legendary Jimmy Greaves, with Tottenham's striker also taking over Wayne Rooney as England's greatest ever goal-getter.

Called a "genius" by football writer Andrew Gaffney, the former Leyton Orient loanee has also been seriously endorsed by former Lilywhites boss Antonio Conte.

"We are talking about a world class striker,” Conte said.

“He deserves the best because he's a great worker, hard worker... this is not normal because usually the players that have talent many times don't like to work hard because they have talent.

“In my career I didn't have great talent [so] for this reason I worked hard. What I liked about him from the first time was his ability. He was a big example for his team-mates.

How is it that Utd are stymied by the amount they still owe on players they've bought?

Genuine question, as accountancy is an alien language to me.
A quick Google and they are stuck on ffp not owing money on purchases, not looked much into them but I imagine historic amortized purchases + wages outstrip revenues.

The owners may be hesitant to spend anymore as its unlikely to change the valuation of the club and they are looking to sell.

Starting tomorrow Levy will have to start paying the returning loanees salaries.
That is almost a mill a month for Ndombele.
I wonder if one or maybe 2 contracts will be paid up in the next days?
