It will be what percentile they are in e.g. Dier had a "dribblers tackled %" of 45% but that puts him in the bottom 6 percentile.

You right, they should be ignored, the stats themselves are cherry picked, sometimes totals are used, sometimes ave per game, sometimes ave per 90 mins and sometimes percentile. Most are just people cherry picking to fit a narrative.

Edit: Looking at some of these, it appears the stats vary massively from fbref (who use Opta), so I would question the validity of the source of these stats.
Interesting.

Also are you saying Opta is unreliable?

I think Liverpool went for Mac Allister because he's EPL proven but Koopmeiners may be a better fit for Spurs.
I am still very keen on Arthur Vermeeren, though, He's still young (18) but has world class potential
Haven’t seen Vermeeren tbh.

If he’s 18, I’d prefer to develop Devine on principle. I watched the youth event he played and he was comfortably in the group of Best midfielders at the tournament.

GLC was good for us in the Poem under Jose, but underwhelmed since, partly due to injuries. The fact that Emery, who is smart, detail oriented, and knows GLC very well, wants him for Villa in the PL shows it's not as cut and dry as you think.

So you would sacrifice GLC so everyone else will play out of position? Maddison injury means we'd have to play Kulu out of position at RCM? Play one of our many LWs at RW? Play Bentancur out of position at RCM? Bissouma I'm already counting as first choice LCM.

Why would you want one injury to cause multiple players out of position? This is why selling GLC when we have barely any attacking midfielders makes no sense.

It wouldn't have to be all those things.... just 1.

He's not elite, but he's definitely good enough for our bench. He starts for Argentina, Xavi also wants him for Barca. He has weaknesses, but not as bad as you make out.

Still; no thanks.

It's good that we have a doctor on this forum

As I said, Vermeeren is still young so it's hard to predict how good he'll become despite of all his talents. He is a DM who can also play CM while Devine is more of an attacking player, so it wouldn't hamper Devine's Spurs career...

I'm well onboard with the Van de Ven and Solomon signings.

Van de Ven is young, versatile and his the pace to play in a high line. He's someone we've clearly done research on and have put to Ange. Him and/or Tapsoba would be class. But even just one of them, with Adarabioyo would be superb business.

Solomon is risk free, PL and UCL proven and can play across the front line. He takes his man on, can go on the inside or outside and adds goals. People will moan it's free and cheap.. Tell me the last £50m+ signing that worked out for Spurs?

Solomon replaces the depth left by Lucas and Danjuma, and is better than them. With no European football, we don't need as bigger squad, so having players ready to step in is perfect.

Because you get paid a shitload of money??

What do you think is the lure about the Saudi league? The top quality of the league?

As long as the PL will be able to pay the biggest wages, we will attract players!

But we dont offer top tier wages? Certainly not in line with what we could. And no European football with one game a week, meaning no true need for rotation.

We can offer Tapsoba and Van De Ven more than they're on now sure. But we can't guarantee both of them first team football so you've really got to question what their ambition is.

Whereas Tosin for example would know he's not going to be first choice. But more than good enough to step in.

Which is why we are more likely to end up with VDV and Tosin. Which is more than good enough and a huge upgrade on Rodon, Tanganga, Dier and Sanchez.

Wouldn't surprise me if we sign van de Ven and reignite our interest in Tapsoba either in January or next summer when he'll end up being cheaper but also with potential need of rotation the following year. Plus, Dier will be off.

Even though Spurs are not breaking any rules (and's not the only club taking advantage of this new rule) I really think that the attitude of exploiting the situation of a club in war torn country that's already suffering severe economic problems really suck and stinks big time.
Why should their football clubs be exempted from help during this crisis?
Levy could at least have paid them, say, £5m for him.
To me this signing really leaves a bad taste 🤢

Problem is, any amount offered would be pretty arbitrary. Which does make one wonder if the upcoming friendly is some kind of gesture of goodwill in lieu of direct financial compensation... Does anyone know how long ago that game was actually arranged / made public? Does the timing fit with the likely original interest in the player?
