Van de Ven is not the answer to our problems. He has played exactly 30 matches of top-level football and lacks the aggression, reading of the game, stability, and composure that we need.

He is a raw ball of clay, he has a good profile and potential, but fuck he’s going to look like a donkey on skates at times this year.

He’s not a commanding presence. Nowhere near the finished product.

I’m concerned.
I'm also concerned tbh

with you.

There’s a lot of talent in our squad that has been under-utilised by successive managers. Bissouma, Romero, Kulu and Son could look immediately better than what we saw last season. Maddison and Vicario will represent clear upgrades on last season. Noises around LCB are good.

Sarr, Udogie and Spence have a lot of untapped potential over the next coming years. I like Gil and think he will suit a front foot team.

I’m really fucking excited and I don’t care if that makes me a happy clapper.

This amortisation guff is confusing.

I'm cautiously optimistic. Some of our players last season weren't just bad, but absolute utter shite. The only way for Son, Kulu and Richarlison is up, even a merely bad season would be a big improvement.

Is that true?

Reading Ally g loan reports he was first choice for a while and also performed well. Highlight being a game when he got rave reviews for clamping Mbappe down his flank. They won that game.

He stopped playing when their club captain came back from injury because he plays RB. Seeing as he was likely signed to help that injury, makes sense he stopped playing after that.
8 games (not all starts or 90 minutes) from 18 league games.
You can't blame Conte for that. In fact, maybe Conte's reluctance to use him was actually justified.
