Man tried to fit Ben White in there.

Players price is dictated by what the market will pay.

The market will pay more if more clubs are confident that the player is less of a gamble.

It’s always a gamble but the chances of a 70/90m player being successful are likely higher than a 50/60m player,

My feeling is actually that the bracket we shop in for our “Marquee”!signings (40-60m) actually presents the worst risk/reward ratio of all.

The big boy clubs know that only the really financially able/committed owners will go as high as 70-90m so they push the prices for the very best talents up to that range so they keep them and stay ahead.
True. Also, we end up wasting more money on multiple signings than other teams on one big flop. Yeah we seem to have picked the worst category which is shown by our awful recruitment.

I listened to the TFC podcast with the protest guys and they made a very valid point about this:

If it’s about real estate like training ground, stadium, hotels etc they will only accept the best. No matter what they have to borrow to get it. They refuse to cut corners or accept anything but be best.

They have NEVER been like that with the playing staff.
& that’s why we are losers who never win anything . They have no interest in doing what it takes.

I wonder if Woolwich fans are moaning about the Declan Rice price tag because they once wasted £75m on Nicholas Pepe?

It doesnt overly bother me not spending £70m on a player i think you can counter that by being smart and quick in the market. What does piss me off about us is we clearly need 2 good centre backs, we've seemingly identified 2 but it appears we're only going to buy 1 of them and then fill out the other spot with cheap squad filler. Especially when we've gone cheaper for Vicario and free for Solomon. Thats why people get pissed off.

Its not just spend money for the sake of it, its closing on good players that are needed to improve the team and give it balance.
