I wonder if Woolwich fans are moaning about the Declan Rice price tag because they once wasted £75m on Nicholas Pepe?

It doesnt overly bother me not spending £70m on a player i think you can counter that by being smart and quick in the market. What does piss me off about us is we clearly need 2 good centre backs, we've seemingly identified 2 but it appears we're only going to buy 1 of them and then fill out the other spot with cheap squad filler. Especially when we've gone cheaper for Vicario and free for Solomon. Thats why people get pissed off.

Its not just spend money for the sake of it, its closing on good players that are needed to improve the team and give it balance.
Agree

Not sure that’s Vicario credit though. There is a very good chance that he’s better but just happens to be cheaper as well.

Tbh I have no issues with any of our signings so far but fully agreed the business we have done should give us the benefit of investing harder in our area of greatest need at CB,

We all have doubts the board are going to see it that way though. It’s much more in line with Levy, Cullen and the crew to rest on their laurels and settle for one of their top targets at CB and it won’t be their top target if it means being slightly uncomfortable with the amount needed to invest

There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t be going all out to get Tapsoba and VDV but we all know it will be one of them and a cheaper one which is only annoying because we can afford it.
Big transfer fees are false though. The bit that fucks everyone off is that if we got both in we’d be absolutely delighted with the window if it shut there and then with 3 top centre backs in the squad. But we won’t do that and leave us disappointed of what could’ve been.

And to add, not only do we clearly need 2 strong centre backs or at least one strong and experienced centre back who is as close as we can get to a "sure thing" (e.g. alderweireld when we bought him).....we have needed new centre backs for years

So spurs are of a level where we should consider giving time to a right back who isn't good enough to start for Rennes?

As long as we are clear on where spurs aim to be

Spurs should evaluate their own player and decide what role they see is best for him.

How Rennes used him during a loan period has fuck all to do with anything except your determination to find a confirmation bias that fits your own negative view of the player,

Be honest how many total mins of football have you watched Spence play?

Agree and thats why i liked the Vicario signing. Time will tell but it appears smart, we acted quickly and David Raya just isnt that good but that and Solomon should free up the money for 2 good centre backs. There really is no excuse not too. After that its move on the rubbish and then get replacements if the likes of Hojbjerg and Gil are sold.

Yes.

If you need to accept cut prices to move players on, you can also do that because you have done smart business in incomings

All matter of opinion but for me Conte was trying to make a point, didn't even use Doherty in the end and shipped him away as well.

Don’t think that’s opinion.

Conte wanted veteran players in his big positions at WB. He got Perisic at LWB, he needed a top player, ready to go at RWB.

He then described Spence as an important player for the FUTURE of the club.

He couldn’t have been sending a clearer message to the board.

Especially as he has a 3CB system and all they managed to get him was Lenglet on loan

It’s claimed Galatasaray have already rejected the north London club’s €22m bid for the Denmark international requested his release clause of €25m to be paid to sanction his sale.

Akşam state Ange Postecoglu’s side took time to consider the Turkish club’s request and have now ‘decided to pay’ the €25m fee to sign the centre-back in this window.

Should Nelsson join his ‘biggest suitor’ for €25m, the report states it’ll be a club-record sale for Galatasaray.
