Ex-Spurs Player Harry Kane

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

True that lots of fans were ignoring them, but the stories were out there in the public domain about his training/attitude, they weren't hard to find. I wonder what our scouting network was up to!
It's easy to point at the scouts and say that they did a bad job scouting him. And maybe they did. But given that Poch personally pushed for him there may also be the possibility that he ignored any and all warnings regarding Tanguy's personality. He wouldn't be the first manager to do that in the history of football.

My personal take is a bit of both.

Dunno what to make of the Joe Lewis thing really, but the idea of a worker having the ability to depart for a better opportunity without control or compensation being the final straw is very on brand for Lewis' class identity.

The Saudis and Qataris hate each other. That's probably the biggest risk to this NOT happening.

This is the Saudis recognizing a weird, unique, and unexpected opportunity to legitimize their project in the eyes of global football supporters.

They've dropped a billion on much dumber shit than this.
This isn't a thread for geopolitics, let alone discussions of Wahhabism, but the Qataris & Saudis are cooperating a lot more right now.

And they both use sportswashing to attempt to improve their international reputation.

I blame Donna Cullen. That video of her and that dog didn't do us any favours at all.

Didn’t realise that was Donna Cullen. FFS.

You can’t just go lobbing dogs around at people. Just not on.

That's true.

But looking at this as some sweetheart corrupt deal between mustache-twirling foreign evildoers is missing the forest for the trees here.

This is a market-rate transaction in a very strange market.

If Mbappe will do it, that is. Interesting decision for him.

I suspect we both agree that this is Sportswashing writ large.

I don't think this is a "market-rate transaction". Unless the "very strange market" you mention is the Sportswashing market.

In terms of the regular transfer market, 1 billion for a one-year contract would bankrupt pretty much every football club in Europe.

Where I suspect we disagree is whether there will be a quid pro quo down the line. If the deal goes through, the Saudis are getting the Qataris of PSG out of a financial mess. I would anticipate the "business favour" is returned ,at some time in the near future.

The real myth here is that "clean" "proper" Western business isn't just this exact same thing.

But anyway, getting Kylian Mbappe into that league at this moment, and surely a mouthpiece for their World Cup campaign, even for just one season, is an asset worth well in excess of a billion to the Saudis. They aren't overpaying at all, they are just operating in a market space unfamiliar to the European game.

Although I’d rather he stayed and signed a new deal, personally this feels like the best scenario of him leaving, and going overseas:

* we don’t have to see him at a PL rival
* we don’t have to witness him score against us at WHL
* he doesn’t break the scoring record (at least not yet) in a rival PL team
* we get some money to reinvest in the squad
* we don’t have this hanging over us for the entirety of the season
* gives Ange an opportunity to mould the team in his image
* opportunity to play a striker with pace able to press from the front

I’m at peace with him going to BM (once we’ve squeezed the bar stewards for the disrespect they’ve showed us).

I think we can all be pretty certain that Lewis hasn’t told shit to Levy about selling Kane. Such a ridiculous story.
I don't even think Joe has Daniel in his phone contacts!

Out of interest... What the fuck even is this? I have no clue of its' existence before just now....
