Paredes for 4 million is an absolute steal.

Sanches on those terms isn’t half bad either.

Very solid business from Roma.
I would take Paredes at Spurs for that price in a heart beat. Would be an excellent option as a ball playing 6.

Sanches reminds me a bit of Ndombele: heaps of talent but - for whatever reason - lack the mentality to apply that talent regularly. There's a "good reason" why PSG wanted to get rid of him.
However, should he be able to change his attitude he'd be a steal at that price.

Sold Kane to Germany. Everybody cried.

Reports are that Spurs are now focused on sales and trimming the squad. Ndombele, Lloris, Dier, Reguilon, a few others. Hojbjerg possibly off to Atleti.

only real concrete link on incomings is to 21 year old Gift Orban at Gent, young striker prospect who appears to be a mix between Aguero and Callum Wilson (depending on your level of optimism/pessimism)

Tbf Callum Wilson is a good player when healthy

Part of our problem in shifting players over the last few years has been the revolving door of managers.

Each and every one have said, rightly, that they ā€œwant a good look at the players before deciding who stays and goesā€.

That’s why at times it feels like some of our players have had multiple fresh opportunities and even a lot of our fans have convinced themselves that sub-standard players can be rejuvenated under the ā€œright systemā€ (see latest rhetoric on Sanchez).

If Ange is here for a longer period, we’ll slowly see this squad become his over the course of a few windows and more of more players exit the club.

I really want this bloke to be a long term fit for us…….
Never thought of it this way but it's blindingly obvious. Take my upvote! :freund:

What does anyone make of these Kyogo rumours? We’ll be really going the opposite way of what we’re used to (eg the Kane, Halaand, Benzema type striker) if we go with him

Did anyone see his lack of stamina/fitness/grit/determination before we went for him?

I'm just wondering if anyone called it before we saw it. I vaguely remember some minor 'cons', but not sure what they were.
He was a completely different player in his 2 years with Lyon prior to signing with us.
I remember watching him against Barcelona and Manchester City and thinking there’s absolutely no chance we’re going to get this guy. He played their midfields off the park.
Along with Frenkie de Jong, he was THE top young midfielder in Europe that summer. There genuinely was a host of top clubs after him, including Juve and Real Madrid.

There were murmurings of a poor attitude from very early on in his career but everyone seemed to believe they were a thing of the past, including our scouts and Pochettino.
Even from very early on in pre season though you could see there we something very off. He didn’t look as strong or sharp as he did at Lyon, and he was literally blowing out of his arse after one or two sprints.

In hindsight, we probably shouldn’t have made him the joint highest player along with Kane in order to get him to sign, as it clearly made his head swell enormously.

However, I will never criticize the club for signing Ndombele. He was at the time a player in demand from the best clubs in the world and we finally acted like the big club we are, went out, put our balls on the table and got him in early doors.
The issue is, the fact that he didn’t work out seems to have burnt Levy and ENIC to the point that they are no longer willing to even consider going after a player at that level of the market again, which is ultimately going to prevent us from competing at the top end of the table.

Underlining things doesn't add weight to your arguments.

You are confused.

I'm confused about nothing, my friend.

My comment on the fans view of the players is exactly the point.

I'll simplify it for you with a question:
Isn't it interesting that if you'd asked Spurs fans to draw up a list of outgoings back in June it would basically mirror the current transfer list post-Ange "review"?

Answer: No not particularly.... It's a hollow, moot observation (See bottom)

Your Dier comment proves my point. Any Spurs fan would have had him on the transfer list on June 1st. And now he looks to be there come mid-August.

No it doesn't; because if you read what I'd written re: Dier properly to begin with it wasn't rooted in fan opinion; it was rooted in the fact that Dier appears to have been made to see sense by Ange (not the fans!) about where he sees him in the squad moving fwd..... Whereas at the beginning of the window we (the fans!) were resigned to him staying because that's what HE (Dier) wanted.

That Dier's outlook now aligns with fan opinion is neither here nor there.... Other than to say it took Ange X-amount of time to get that message across.

.....Ergo; it actually vindicates what I've been saying since the very first post: Ange's vetting process has taken X amount of time and he (not any sensible fan) wouldn't have had it any other way.

.....Of course; unless you like the idea Levy calling the shots about the squad and selling players behind the manager's back? .......Pretty sure in another moment you'd eagerly complain about such a thing happening.

Ange could have just read the forum and saved himself the hassle.

If all your point is "Wah, the fans could have told Ange that" (which is all it amounts as far as your posts have shown) then great... BUT a) that's not what the convo was about and b) it's a facile, hollow point to start with......

Unless you genuinely believe Ange should have canvassed fan opinion rather than doing his own work in pre-season, then you're kinda wasting both of our time here.........

I already explained why your attempt to include Perisic and Gio in that bunch is flawed.

It's not flawed at all......... These are players than the fans widely wanted rid off; but now seem destined to stay.... In fact some want them to start on Saturday!

By the way you seem to have declined to name those 2019 £100m EPL MFs you claimed existed earlier..... Is that cos they were a myth all along?
