It is getting very difficult to ignore the emergent strength, ambition and investment of some clubs we've spent the last five years thinking were beneath us permanently, never a realistic assumption.

Villa, Newcastle already miles past never to be seen again, West Ham, Brighton to a disturbing degree.

Not Everton though. Poor, sweet Everton.
