TBH, I think we need a player like that to be both Maddison's backup as well as starting alongside him when we want to really attacking.

Biss on his own behind them should be fine.

I just don't like Gallagher cos he'd be super expensive and he's not that good, and as you said he's not very technical.

I do get that however to be fair he has been Chavs best midfielder start of this season and was great at Palace. He is a proper fighter, tough as nails type player with crazy energy and good goal scoring instincts. We could do a lot worse.

He won’t be as nice to watch though, if he covers Maddison he is more likely to smash his way to assists and goals than finesse his way to them.

Eze is my top pick but Gallagher is decent and shouldn’t be sniffed at.

I see the media trying to stir the shit about kane leaving and banned from training ground last day. They engineered his move last few years so try and cook up another story having a pop at club. Poch left immediately and there was no big deal. Business is business after all.

Exactly what the plan is in whatever moments Madders is off the pitch seems entirely up in the air atm

Sarr? Kulusevski? 4-4-2?

It just doesn't seem like there is a proper list of priority targets. It all sounds opportunistic.

It seems like Vicario, Maddison, VDV and Solomon were players we actually did our diligence on and now it's just Levy and Paratici rooting around the bins and eavesdropping on what other clubs are doing. We already spent the Kane money so anything more depends on sales. What a sad state of affairs, I feel for Ange.
Due diligence? Lol.

Cheaper riskier punt GK (finance first), no chance of staying at a relegated team who needed to sell as his contract was up in 2024, VDV £35.4m fee plus a fuck load of add-ons, Solomon contract situation due to the war.

Diligence in spending as little money as feasibly possible as per usual.

We've been in for Johnson and Gallagher before tbf.

Then why haven't they signed? Trying to take important players at this stage in the window never works for us, it's Dybala all over again. Just Levy trying to pretend he tried.

If it's City or Liverpool, then the money and prestige can get the deals done late. With Levy's dicking around and our diminished status I don't see us pulling anything off. If we wanted a player like Gallagher he should have been signed weeks ago. He is starting every game for Chelsea now.

Now that Skippy seems to have taken on Winks' scapegoat mantle, as I exclusively predicted 18 months ago, I'm going to go all in and say Bents will be the next out of the traps after a couple of so-so games coming back from injury.

Fuck all that , DM me the lottery numbers

True, hojbjerg is probably the least suited to 6 of all our midfielders given he struggles the most in tight spaces and under a press. The 6 role in a possession team is wildly different to the 6 in a counter attack system. If Hojbjerg stays he should play more like a Kante breaking up play further forward.

Bissouma or Sarr are the obvious 6’s in the squad in our system but they will be off for ACON so maybe Bentancur will need to fill in who knows.
I think Bentancur would probably be a backup 6 in this system.

Cheaper players are less risky, not more risky. It's our gambling on expensive frauds like Richarlison, Ndombele, Lo Celso etc that has brought us to this point whereas the cheaper players like Bentancur, Bissouma, Udogie etc are the ones doing well.

It's much easier to recover when a cheap player flops than when all your record signings do.

Yup, would take him for about £35m or even £40m including addons, given current silly prices of footballers.

However, chavski will not be that accomodating.

Reguilon to Man Utd is just hilarious
I recall forum meltdowns when we learnt that Real Madrid had inserted a buyback clause into Reguilon's contract, and people were scared that they would pay 42 million (or whatever crazy sum it was) to take him back to Spain.

A lot of scouts & coaches have thought he's better than he's proven to be.

Maybe ETH will return him to his swashbuckling Europa League-winning days.

Or maybe he'll send him back to us in January...
