1. Yes
2. Fine to challenge, if at any point I'd suggested he'd be a starting CB. At 36, I'm not sure he'd be expecting it either
3. It's not a bizarre response to think that one of our other 2-3 centre-backs would start ahead of him, while he would be a good option off the bench. Thinking he'd be a good addition to the squad does not mean I don't think we don't need another CB, but I definitely think he'd help improve what we've got with advice and playing time in training

He's £3m and playing for Union I doubt he'd be on huge wages. Hey, Union are going through a great period in their history and maybe he just wants to be part of that. Who knows?

Funnily enough, they're talking about the move on Talksport now (H&J at around 14:02) and saying what great experience he'd bring to the club and how he might not be a starter because their starting backline is pretty good.

Maybe you can phone into Talksport and call their correspondent a moron?
I mean I'm sure even they're aware of that tbf.

Where we differ is that I'm of the opinion that EVERY player signed (starter or sub) should be able to fit into the system we play and we shouldn't make exceptions. That's why players like Dier are now redundant.

Johnson is a good player mate. Everyone needs to support him and give him a chance (more than one fucking season) and you’ll see.

Definitely makes us more potent attacking-wise.

I do think he's probably quite good. I just also think that when we saw players like Diaby move for similar fees earlier in the window and we weren't even involved its all a bit weird.

But we'll see. He's here now.

Johnson is a really good signing imo but the real issue is that we really need first choice striker and another CB. Levy had plenty of time to sort it out too. But Johnson is good, especially for the rumoured fee.

He needs to be a star to justify that valuation, but he's talented, growth is possible there, let's live in hope.
Similar price to Palmer, Barnes, Jota, Madueke, Gordon. All players in a fairly similar bracket of quality, all hg except for Jota. That's what you pay for good, not great, hg players with room to grow. Alex Scott was 25m, an attacking midfielder with one goal in 42 games last year (he looks really good, not slating him). Antony, Mudryk etc movinh for 85m plus with no serious goalscoring record. Gravenberch looked great at Ajax, but Liverpool just spent 40m on a guy who looked incredibly average over the summer for Netherlands u21's. Prices are crazy because these clubs make crazy money. That said, there's probably 20 players I'd have wished for before coming to Brennan Johnson
