1. The reports about Spurs being close to a deal all came from the Barca end as a smokescreen to get Brighton to agree to cover his wages
2. Spurs actual reluctance was probably not unrelated to the public relations unacceptability of a one-year loan with no purchase option being the entire extent of our business post-Kane
