We seem to be landing more hits than misses lately, which is nice. Early days but yeah, him, Vicario and Maddison seem to be settling in well early.

Udogie + Bissouma have .. and I hate this cliche but it seems appropriate, been like new signings.

There are positives. So I won’t say we’ve had a shit window. But I will say it feels short of being a good one.
A well-balanced post, for once. Could we have gotten one or two more signings? Probably. A backup CB should have been prioritized. Did not shifting the deadwood hamper us? Definitely, and that's past failures still haunting us. But is it critical at such an early stage in the Ange project that we get all the pieces of the puzzle in place? Not really, especially since Ange is still trying to figure out the puzzle.

And I'm not buying the "replace Kane" argument. It is always a recipe for disaster when you try to replace a WC player, and a CF at that too, of which there are just a handful of decent ones. Rather, you change the system to get the same goals from other sources and that is exactly what Ange is doing. Let's give him a chance to prove it out, yeah?

For what its worth, players out of contract come June are Forster, Austin, Lloris, Dier, Sanchez and Perisic so at least we can shed a few without this bunfight...but

There are a ton that will only have 1 year left next summer....Davies, Lo Celso, Sessegnon, Ndombele, Hojbjerg and Son.

Dier telling Sanchez over a Bovril, they want "me" to move to Burnley?

Yeah, who has been pretty poor for them so far.

Not sure they have any real cover for Oodegard or Saka either, let alone Rice.

Disclaimer Levy is a bald cunt and my post in no way absolves him of being so
It's a better collection of players than it is a balanced lineup, I agree with you there. The Raya thing was awfully strange. Still lots of class there though, and I am undeterred in rating Havertz.

In terms of deadwood we have nobody that approaches Mohamed Elneny though. It's like if Vincent Janssen were still here somehow.

Haha no I don't agree at all, tbh I doubt we even agree on who our realistic rivals even are. I'm a realist, you're a fantasist. But that's not a conversation for this thread - thought I'd just playfully call you out on 'other teams is whataboutery' that you've spouted so much recently like someone who has learned a new phrase at their online debating club. :p It was meant to be playful - I'm more than a little tipsy right now, no offense intended. I do agree on needing another CB - let's at least agree that we'll both be disappointed if that doesn't get done in the next few hours. :)
Realistic rivals :levylol:

Drink some more my man.

Putting boardroom failings to one side i think this shows how comfortable and entitled our 'leadership group' of the last few seasons had become. You would have thought a bit of professional pride might have kicked in when you know you're not wanted but here they remain.

Assuming we’re done, my thoughts on the window:

I said at the beginning of the window that it would be unacceptable to complete the window with a striker who scored 1 EPL goal last season.

Therefore, this has been an unacceptable window.

All the good work done at the beginning has been undone by ownership’s refusal to invest in a striker and a second high-line able center back, despite having the entire summer to do so.

The mismanagement of the squad from 2019 forward and the neglect of our own academy has put us in a position which will only clear itself up by terminating contracts and allowing players to run down their contracts. It will probably take another two or three (good-excellent) windows to put right.
Hopefully, there are two or three home-grown (club-trained) options that will help in the medium(-long term).

With Udogie, Vicario, vdV, Maddison and the emergence of Bissouma and Sarr along with fewer games, I think we’ll be better this year than last if we avoid injuries and get anything out of the forward line.

It’s always too early to judge. We all thought the ndombele/ lo celso window was our best window and it turned out to be our worst window ever.
The suitability of the business to squad needs can be judged in the moment. The quality of the scouting requires a couple of years at least.

Unless you have the only summer window in Premier League history in which you do not bring a new player in, of course.
