Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Herc says “we’ve been watching him for a long time” so safe to say we just heard about him last week.
In fairness, we’ve been linked for months meaning that anyone can suggest a connection and pose as ITK. Nearly all the supposed ITK involves names that have already been suggested by mainstream journos.
And that’s when these supposed ITKs actually name a player as opposed to ‘bringing one in’, ‘looking at someone in Serie A’ and other generic crap which could refer to half of Europe.

Calciomercato have said that Genoa could now decide to increase their asking price for Radu Dragusin amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the last few days, the speculation linking Dragusin with a move to Spurs has gone into hyperdrive, with many outlets talking up the chances of the transfer going through.

Several journalists said over the weekend that a formal approach from Tottenham for the £26m-rated Romanian is now imminent (Lyall Thomas).

In fact, Fabrizio Romano stated on Sunday that the Lilywhites have already agreed personal terms with the centre-back, and are now working to strike a deal with Genoa.

CalcioMercato have now thrown a potential spanner in the works by suggesting that Genoa could decide to demand a bigger fee for Dragusin.

The report backs up what we have heard from other sources over recent days by revealing that Spurs are currently ‘in pole position’ ahead of Atalanta, AS Roma, Napoli and AC Milan in the race for the 21-year-old.

However, they say that if the centre-back keeps performing as well as he did against Inter Milan last week, Alberto Gilardino’s men could ask Tottenham to pay more than the £26m they initially wanted.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that Tottenham want this deal resolved quickly, not only due to their injury situation but also because they do not want to risk waiting until others enter the race for Dragusin and potentially getting into a bidding war for the centre-back.

Inevitable

If the club wants business done early, it might need to pay slightly more than they want to.

IMO there ain't gonna be any bidding wars.
I think we have identified our targets and the club that wants our money the most will accept the bid.

Hercules with a short summary of what he's read in the press recently - delusionally believing no-one else read those same twitter/press rumors

Genoa conversations extremely positive. May surprise you to know this fella is Ange’s first pick. Jota, we are really trying to do some things. 18 year olds which you know about, we are waiting especially on one, the Ajax lad’s decision

People need to realise that if you are complaining about Brendan Johnson you are complaining about Ange. It was his choice. Not Levy. Not Paratici, etc.

Johnson, not unlike Waddle was, not a crunching tackling winger and never will be. No winger is brought for that purpose.

He was brought in to fly down the wing, and put in defense splitting passes.

Johnson has one goal and four assists in seventeen games (some of those off the bench) in an injury ravaged team, where his main target has changed position (Son/Richy) and has played with Madders, and Kulu, LoCelso being on the inside of him in midfield.

He has been carrying a couple of knocks, and is only just fully fit, working with a new team, system and totally different demands from his manager.

He's just 22, but hey lets dismiss this kid.

Some in here are fucking morons when it comes to assessing a players worth, ability and talent.

Name me one of our forward players (not injured) who could have put that ball across to Richy on Sunday from the right hand side?
