I think the issue with Johnson is there doesn’t seem to be that real willingness and desire to be top level. He has good attributes but doesn’t use them enough. He’ll always produce moments in a game like yesterday but there’s something missing in his game.

I definitely don’t think we should be writing him off though.

Come on how often is he flying down the wing? Unless it’s a ball over the top like yday then he very rarely tries to beat his man. When he gets the ball from our normal play out from the back his pretty much useless. Only time he seems to be effective is running on to balls from over the top like Porto did and royal. Which begs the question why we don’t it more often? At least it would give use diff armoury to keep playing through the middle. Also look at the goals yday we basically scored from bad goalie kick which bent intercepted, one where we had the ball around half way line with a defence splitting pass from there and one ball over the top. None really came from playing through the lines / thirds. Even v Brighton our two goals were from cross from edge of pen box and other from pull back out wide. We score more when getting wide or behind than from playing in front of teams.

He is going to be a quality player for spurs and also Wales.

Not so sure! He may some qualities but that seems to be mainly latching on to balls over the top. How about trying to do some one one take ons when he has a decent in front of him? May be some nice little through balls? Being able to get involved in passing moves. Challenge and pressing. Need to see more im afraid to help the teams general play especially when we don’t have the ball or trying to get involved in build up play. Just my opinion.

That’s what I’m saying,he has attributes but doesn’t use them. He must get defenders faving their own goal. The amount of time you are at the game and there’s so much space for him to spin and go in behind the full back but he comes short. He’s not good enough to come short and be a link player. What he done for Richy’s goal is exact what he should be looking to do against st full backs.
The last two goals richy has scored have been identical and they are Ange goals. That’s how he wants us to play but we don’t do it enough yet. Maybe that’s because we don’t have madders there to play those passes between full backs and centre backs for our wide forwards to run onto.
The amount of goals Celtic and Kyogo scored like that was incredible last season and it’s the way Ange wants to play.

He’s a runner and should terrify defenders with his pace but doesn’t do it enough. Every time in the first 15 mins of games he should just go in behind. Then the fb will drop off and then he can take it to feet with a bit more space to play.

I was very skeptical of Porro at FB — never seen Udogie so I had no opinion — but the truth is that he doesn’t play as a traditional FB in Ange’s system.
His defending still leaves plenty to be desired (as was clearly demonstrated this week) but his strengths going forward on a possession based team more than compensate.

But that is bcos his tucked in too much. Stays out wide when we are not in procession then he would be tighter to the winger. As it is every team has been able to get down our wide area too easy as there is no one there. Porro then has to make the dash out wide but by that time they could have crossed or have good run in space towards the by line.

I think Johnson has a strange running style for someone so quick , he reminds me of a duck in how he moves. The word escapes me that I’m looking for
 
Johnson hasn’t settled yet . He has a permanently anxious expression on his face, and is playing like it. There’s a player there though , I suspect he will take a season or so to settle.

Agree. I think he lacks bravery, both with the ball in that he doesn't use this allegedly terrifying pace to get at his opponent and he also seems timid and afraid of the contest.

Talented for sure but jeez for 50m we need a lot more from him. I am keeping the faith for now but BJ is starting to annoy me.

We really shouldn’t have to wait a season or so for a £50 million pound player.
I think he is going to be one that will frustrate us because he’ll do great things and then in the next play he’ll be terrible.
If he would just show more desire and aggression in his game then he wouldn’t get the stick that’s been thrown about.

Lange and the scouts will obviously be the main drivers of identification but with Paratici still as a ‘consultant’ and part of the process.

Fab is banned from that kind of stuff though remember.... He'll likely act as a sort of 'fixer' rather than being a deal-maker himself.
