Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

GLC has won us points and in very tough games. That point away at City was massive for the belief in the whole project. Just now second half vs Bournemouth, we probably don't win if he doesn't run the shpw second half.

If you'd take 10m for GLC in January I think you are off your rocker. respectfully.

Take 20+10 and get in a strong replacement.
Don't just do half of the math, do the whole calculation please.

We need to plan further than one or two weeks. He will miss out on most of the games and soon his contract will run up.
I agree - he has been useful in number of games this season. Including ManCity and vs Bournemouth he was rightfully MoM.

Juve mate of mine reckons we're getting another steal of a player.

Clutching at straws but maybe if they shift a couple they might go for Reggie in the summer?

If they shift enough - maybe. I think if they only shift a couple they would prefer to spend more to get a 'top' player (just like we signed Romero, Van de Venn and Vicario light years above the level of players they replaced) rather than Reguilon who has a better attitude and is say 25% better than their average player.

PEH's strength in our squad is coming on at 60-70th minutes to steady us and see out a game. He did very well at that when we had a full strength squad. Useful for sure, but he wants to start to get minutes in before euros.

If. you remember correctly, in preseason GLC ran the second unit arguably better than maddison with the first unit. GLC is a stud just the problem is keeping him healthy. With madders back, we can manage minutes between the two of them, I think, and we can't get a replacement for him for anywhere reasonable of a price. I think we should extend him, keep him for the next few years, then bring Devine in to take his role.

Not talking about what we would get for him. I'm talking about what it would cost to replace him.

If Liverpool start MacAllister and Argentina start GLC over MacAllister when both are fit, that is a pretty valuable asset to have as a depth piece in your squad. Would cost way more than 30m to replace that.
I wouldn't read too much into that, some players play for their country much better than they play for their clubs.

Would you rather have MacAllister or GLC?

He did very well in Spain last season.

If he has a good rest of season he could be worth north of 30 million.

That assist to Sonny was sublime.

hahahahhahahahahhahha
If he had such a good spell in Spain, why no one came for him?

Once again - agree that Bournemouth game was good from him, and also his sub-appearance in Everton game.
But 30 mil for 28 yo awfully injuty-prone player with relatively high salary and 1 year left on his contract?

I can guarantee, there is no team (outside mad-oil-states) that would pay anything near it.

Judge him on what he's doing for Ange in this system.

Can't replace that for less than 30m

By what he's doing in Ange system, you mean not being deemed fit or good enough for 77% of all minutes ? :D :D

Yes- let's leave all other managers out. One and only Big Ange has decided that for 80% of the time he is not good enough or fit enough to play for his side.

30 mil.. jokers :D

20+10 = 30

Not easy to replace what GLC does for 30m.

He has 2 years left this summer, PEH has 1. GLC may even be worth extending, His quotes in the game mag were that Ange told him from the start that he wants him here. PEH isn't interested in extending or we aren't offering. We have clearly been willing to deal since Ange arrived.

It's not complicated to work out what is likely and what is also the best for our manager's long-term view on the squad.

You don't understand supply and demand at all, do you?

Issue why winter transfer windows are difficult is that TEAMS DON'T LET THEIR PLAYERS LEAVE.
So supply is extremely limited. Demand too is lower in winter, but drop in supply is much greater.

Also, effectively this means that 1/3 of "assets useful lifespan" is over by then. This also should roughly translate him losing 1/3 of his potential value. If we set his value to 21 million now, it would mean - selling now 21 mil. Selling in summer 14 mil. Selling next Jan 7 mil and next summer - leaving free. So estimate of now going for ~20-25 mil and in summer for maybe 15 mil seem quite accurate.

P.S also in EUR not in GBP. No one would pay 25 mil GBP for him.
But if you rate him (I don’t), then he’s worth a 7m depreciation over the rest of the season…. If he’s going to play and be part of the squad, the output of his game-time could ensure 4th place or higher which yields far greater £ than 7M

Both Hojbjerg and Lo Celso have 18 months left on contract until June 2025.

I can't see us extending either contract.
