His detractors will argue that he already has.

No, he won’t retire. He has one very decent contract still ahead of him — even 3 years @ 40k nets him another £6 1/4 m — and only a fool is going to leave that kind of money on the table in a short career.
I think he has outside interests and is v self aware and may choose a path outside football

Don't get too attached to GLC, he has 18 months left and is 27 and entering his peak, not sure if the club will extend or if he'll seek something new, I can see him going to Barca in the Summer personally
Barca are a bit of a mess financially these days & need to sell before they can buy. They looking for free agents so they can keep their costs down so I don't see them doing business with Levy this Summer

The only thing that matters with Lo Celso is how we expect him to perform over the life of the next contract. He could have been terrible for 4 years… if we expect him to be good over the next 4 then we should offer him a new contract.
How can we expect him to be good for another 4 years based on a handful games this season?
Nevermind that, it's a roll of the dice whether he can be fit for more than 2 games in a row.

Audere est facere, maritus
I think 'Maritus' is the conjugal 'mate', possibly not the one you are looking for. You probably mean amicus or sodalis.

He fancies him ahead of Philips.

Okay, Ange fancies Dier very, very little...not "at all". Picking two FBs in Royal and Davies over him is pretty damning for a CB, Phillips or not.

My point stands that if Dier's head space is, let's see out the last six months and retire, then he wouldn't be training well enough to get ahead of anyone, including Phillips.

Agreed.

Lisbon would be one of the best places in Europe to spend the last few years. I think he'll be found out even there, but he'll have a contract and a few £m more to his name.

the gio we are seeing now is better than anything we could get for the money we would get if we gt rid of him.

Can't argue with that, but I am still absolutely concerned he will be inured again soon.

This is where we find Paratici has 5 CB's all lined up ready to sign and Dragusin ends up not the one.
