I'm trying to reconcile both sides into some middle-ground here - what about this:
- we were all disappointed not to get another CB last summer. We appreciate that not everything is always possible, but it was disappointing nonetheless, and most on here would agree the club should have done more to make that happen. Perhaps we thought Phillips or Dorrington would be the answer, and perhaps the club did too, but if so and it didn't pan out that way, then that must be on the club.
- however we have also been hit by incredibly bad luck, having suspensions and long term injuries to both of our starting two, and at the same time, meaning that any errors or additional risks of not buying another CB were made to kick us as hard as possible. The bad luck has turned any such 'error' into a very difficult situation (I won't say disaster because we're actually still doing well), and a much bigger deal than it would have been if they'd both stayed fit.
Is that a fair summary?
