Nah, I was one of his absolute biggest critics but the improvement to his general play post-surgery is blindingly obvious.

He had some really good hold up play and he won possession in some really important areas. He's not doing anything amazing but he looks competent now. The ball is not bouncing off him anymore and he is getting more confident in front of goal. If he continues in this way then he will become an important player for us.
Sure. That doesn't make him a great fit for Ange ball though, and never will.

Terrible miss but whats worth to mention it didn’t ruin his confidence. Thaths huge difference when you compare what happenned with him in the past, when he was basically done in the match after missing sitter. Also kudos for putting his head and body when it was needed in the defence/set pieces etc.

Agh... Richie was so good in 3 games in a row, but I feel that last 2 games have been again step in wrong direction. Not saying that he is shit or useless - far from that.

I would say that in Brighton game he was our best attacking player. Johnson was shocking and Son was also pretty poor. But it still hurts that he did not score there, in some situations everything was done. It was just about putting the ball into the net. Most painful moment was when he failed to keep himself onside, got goal ruled out and Brighton then scored from next attack. VS Bournemouth he did score, but in some important moments showed again wastefulness that reminded of Richie of the past.

If he would have only taken best chances in these two games, he would have fulfilled my prophecy of securing EPL player of the month title. Right now scored 5 in Dec, but could have scored 8 - in which case I doubt he wouldn't have won it.

I really-really-really hope that in absence of Son he can handle the pressure, performs well and scores many goals!

Richie is gonna be the 'main man' for the next month... and like it or not, he's the only 1st team fit/available attacking option we have....

If Scarlett steps up and does well, then great, but we can't be pinning our PL/FA Cup hopes on a 19 year old youth player who has just come back from a mixed loan at Ipswich....

That's what we paid £60 to Everton for!!

We need someone in the box to finish off chances. He’s better at that than Son,
his tap ins vs Newcastle and Bournemouth were better finishes than most people would give credit for.
The way he moved and slotted it in first time was all instinct and practice.
I would say Son doesn't really do that very often, but he did it exquisitely in the NLD.

He was crap tonight but he’s in a good run of form. If he scores the winner next game all is forgotten about. Never going to be the perfect player and at some stage he will need upgrading to reach the next level, but he’s contributing this season.
