A post from RedCafe.............. even they know they're shit

"Makes much more sense for him. Playing in a much better side where he'll receive passes and be able to put himself in the shop window... If he's convinced he's not shit."

Signing Werner isn’t leaving us short. Not signing a CB in the summer was doing that.

Werner is somewhere in between.

Signing a player on an option to buy is a very good plan if you are not 100% sure of the player's ability to hack PL - and given Werner couldn't as a young man, its a pragmatic solution.

Ange comes across as a forceful character who knows what he wants, and it would not surprise me if he likes the player but is equally unsure if he can play PL football, so the solution of a loan with an option is excellent.

There are very few 'sure thing' forwards available atm, and even less during January. so the shortlist probably isn't that long.

I sort of get this move for the type of player. Centre forward in Ange's team isn't expected to be heavily involved in the play, and is to concentrate on making short sharp bursts in and around the box and in behind to be on the end of stuff.

That is Werner, his game is mostly about movement and he has pace. If you look at the couple of chances Richarlison fluffed last night for instance, half the problem was that he couldn't run away from the defenders which made things much tougher. TW might be no more reliable a finisher, but I'd expect that if he is given a pass in behind they're not getting back at him.

On the flip side though, this is yet another "off the ball runner" type. Like Son. Like Johnson. Would be nice at some point to get a forward/winger who likes and can do something with the ball at his feet, with a game primarily about being able to dribble or go past somebody. And no, I don't count Gil or Solomon.

Werner gives you numbers and a certain quality. Our opinion on that quality is irrelevant if Ange has OKd the quality. At least for now.

Unlikely his first choice but in January? I don’t hate it.
If Ange has been told that the money is not there to bring in a striker of his choice & the only option is a short term loan signing, of course he’ll ok it. Any signing when you’re short of numbers is better than no signing

Werner is just a pair of legs to cover for Veliz's injury, it's fine. He is quick and has PL experience, his goal record is dreadful but he is only here to help us through an injury crisis.

The important January signing is the CB.
