Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

We’re 1 point away from top 4 & 6 off of the top of the table. Why can’t Levy & this board break the habit of the last 23yrs & just back the manager properly when it’s needed rather than leave us short once again.
It absolutely does my head in. You’d think he’d learn after the same mistakes he’s made over & over again but no, it looks like he’s going to be rinse & repeat as usual.
You’re making an assumption that the money isn’t there to buy a top class forward. That could definitely be the case.
However, it’s just as likely that the top class forward isn’t available.
This isn’t like shopping where the shelves are stacked with goodies for you to pick what you want.
If United, who need a forward as much (if not more) than we do, are shopping for the same guys then perhaps it’s because there’s limited availability.

How about we regroup on February 1st and you can list all the world class forwards that were transferred this window.

No I actually considered their 36.5 million outlay to be a premium. It was still expensive and was necessary to complete the pack.

It's near impossible to fill an entire squad with low profile under the radar signings before winning a league. Which is exactly our problem, we always have gaps in the squad.
We're 7 months into his tenure mate, rebuilding a shattered squad and, so far, our recruitment has brought in gems. Like I said earlier, arguably 7 players that will be considered elite, if some of them aren't already.

You like using Liverpool's recruitment as the yardstick. Have a look at their transfer dealings between 2015 and 2019. Each season, 2 expensive signings, with a bunch of cheap punts. They got VVD and Salah after they sold Coutinho. Essentially it took them 3 seasons of squad building, along with selling their best player, before they finally won the league.

So far, our model appears to be very similar. Couple of high end players (no I'm not saying elite), with astute buys of very high potential.

We're backing the long term plan, not the manager, as the manager is just a part of that plan. That's why he was employed.

I don't get why we need him.

The biggest problem we have had all season, is not the scoring goals, but the awful and woeful lake of chances. The lack of creativity and risk taking.

His movement is or at least was far better than our current forwards minus Son, he can also press properly so he is more likely to create the space for chances. If we had elite attackers it might be odd but this is a big upgrade to the likes of Gil and Solomon.

I get why we need him. We have just lost Son for potentially 6 weeks and Veliz for 8 weeks.
We brought on Gil and Scarlett to help us yesterday.
If TW flops, he flops. If he doesn't....wahay!!!!!!!!!

The biggest problem is our lack of creativity in the final third I think, Johnsons offers nothing creativity wise, Son when played as LW offers too little too, Richie is a passanger, can barely control the ball. Werner at least can run past players on the left and that's much more than we had until now.

Werner smells of all that has been bad about our time under Danny Boy , yet I am strangely calm as I see the logic in this one at least , I think Werner is the best option we can get right now for Ange ball , I am not pessimistic about this transfer if it turns out to be true . Get a bloody CB pronto please Baldy

Johnson offers nothing? I’d say he beats men regularly and is a great crosser on both feet, not sure what Johnson you’ve been watching

Everything you just wrote was wrong.

But I’ll give you 2/10 for effort.

Ange is a Legend, saw what 4 managers couldnt see straight off the bat!!!

Classic retort from Ange, Knight him NOW!!

When you think about it we have pretty much coped without Lurch for a while now.

Over the last couple of games Emerson and Davies have coped well slotting on the CB's role.

When we sign another CB this window, Ange should have the cover he needs for suspension or injury in that position.

At some point (depending on the draw) he will need to blood one of the youngsters at CB, but until then I am glad hit hit the nail on the head answering that question.

Finally it's good to see a manger not skirting the question, and the reporter who asked him about Dier's absence really got his ass reamed.

Beautiful to witness!
