Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

When we sign a centreback and left winger who can play as a striker in the first 10 days of the window, I’m sure Ed Vanderlay , Deuterz Deuterz and Richard Arlison Richard Arlison will be at the front of the queue to praise Levy (given everything is always his responsibility).

We even moved on quickly from Todibo when it became apparent we wouldn’t get him rather than dragging it on for three weeks.

Masterfully done

I’ve been saying good things about Levy bringing Paratici and giving him credit for Ange and the new structure.

I haven’t said anything bad about him in this thread for a while. These days I’ll criticise the club if I can see the club has deserved it.
Why does that bother you so much?

We're 7 months into his tenure mate, rebuilding a shattered squad and, so far, our recruitment has brought in gems. Like I said earlier, arguably 7 players that will be considered elite, if some of them aren't already.

You like using Liverpool's recruitment as the yardstick. Have a look at their transfer dealings between 2015 and 2019. Each season, 2 expensive signings, with a bunch of cheap punts. They got VVD and Salah after they sold Coutinho. Essentially it took them 3 seasons of squad building, along with selling their best player, before they finally won the league.

So far, our model appears to be very similar. Couple of high end players (no I'm not saying elite), with astute buys of very high potential.

We're backing the long term plan, not the manager, as the manager is just a part of that plan. That's why he was employed.

I agree, we continue to build but this is a stage we are happy with as a club. Building at low cost.

Whether we achieve something in a year or two will be down to whether our owners are willing to take a hit to finish off and complete squad rather than leave us short.

Everything you just wrote was wrong.

But I’ll give you 2/10 for effort.

Agreed!

For anyone who thinks Johnson offers nothing is just fucking stupid.

That cross for Richy's goal last week was as good as any wingers in the PL you will see this season. He has one goal and four assists in seventeen matches (some off the bench) has played alongside Madders and Kulu and used on either wing at times.

He has created a third of our chances this season, (obviously not all taken) and that stat alone is worth an automatic start.

He's just twenty two, and anyone with an ounce of football knowledge can see this kid has a bright future under Ange.

Aggregators are gonna aggravate fans to increase their engagements, nothing new.

Kinda like ITK's promising people the world and then resorting to blaming the board when they predictably don't happen to keep the scam going.
I guess I just expect people to think a bit more rationally than emotionally, especially as we see this every transfer window.

I've always felt that the definition of stupidity is not learning from your mistakes.

Might be an age thing though. I was a teen before the internet, and my kids were teens when the social media cesspool reared its head, so I grew up getting used to not knowing until it happened.

Social media seems to have created a generation of overly emotional, instant gratification, ego driven Muppets, where opinion trumps fact.

I’ll have a bet with anyone right now that he’ll score more than Richarlison come the end of the season.
If he catches the seven goals Richie has scored already and beats whatever Richie scores the rest of the season, which is what you are stating then I'd wager we would win the league.

Richie scored 7 in half a season. If he matches that again, you are saying Werner would score 15. The pair of them score 22+ goals that's going to be close to league title numbers.

Easy tiger, I already said that I would grudgingly give Levy credit and not bitch for the rest of the window if that happens . Now I wasn’t expecting one to be a loan , but that does not matter as I quite like the Werner deal , irrespective of structure .

However until he gets those 2 deals over the line I am not cutting him any slack. Equally if we sell Hojberg and don’t replace him I will not be happy, as we will be clearly short in midfield with international commitments
