As much as I think he needs to go... I kinda hope Dier fails his medical at Bayern and Big Ange calls out the journo in his next press conference...

"Hey Mate. You wanna have another go at my integrity? I told you Dier was injured."

They guy has played 8 games for Leipzig this season, he’s their 4th choice striker by all accounts…

Look, I really hope that he does well and he provides adequate cover when Son is away etc, but it just seems like such a pointless, classic doing the bare minimum Levy signing.

And all the people shouting from the rooftops “Ange approved him so that’s good enough for meeeeee!!!!” :angryscouser:
This is such a flawed take on signings such as this.

For almost any signing the club makes, you get the usual media mouthpiece with the “this was approved by *Manager X”
Now for people who are capable of reading between the lines, you must understand that if Levy goes, “Ange, we have naff all money to spend on an attacker, but we could do a loan deal for Timo Werner, that’s pretty much all we can do.”
So obviously Ange is going to approve signing Werner as opposed to no one at all especially considering the absentees we currently have.

Where do you get “don’t get involved in build up”? Surely the reason which rich gets stick is the ball never sticks to him thus attacks break down. In Ange’s system the CF has to work hard, press and make good movement do that the wide forwards can get space.
The play very rarely goes through our centre forward. It will go into him when we are playing from deeper but generally Ange ‘s style is centre forward play between two centre backs and let the others build the play. At Celtic Kyogo would sometimes stand in an offside position(about 5 yards off) and disrupt the centre backs. They didn’t know whether to be brave and stay up or drop back. Either way it allows you to dictate the game from the midfield. If they stay up then it’s an easy pass to release the wide players who’d get in and cut back or cross for Kyogo who wouldn’t be offside if because he wasn’t involved and it’s second phase. It’s very clever.
If the centre backs do drop then you totally dominate the midfield because there’s more space for your inverted full backs to play. We haven’t perfected that yet but there’s signs it’s happening like richy’s goal against Everton and Bournemouth and also sonny’s v Liverpool. They are typical Ange goals and we’ll see an awful lot more of them in the coming months.
Going back to Werner,he’s the perfect striker for us to what Kyogo done for Celtic. He starts offside and too quick for defenders to recover. I can’t wait to see it more because he’s more suited to it than Richy.
It’s so important we get madders back because he will thread the passes for wide players to run onto which makes all this happen.
Sorry for the big spiel about this but this is how Ange wants his centre forward and teams to play.

So Trossard - a 27m back-up player - is "backing he manager", but Biss 28m, Kulu 26m (+ loan fees), 40m Maddison, 50m Johnson, 40m VDV aren't?

60m for Ndombele, 60m Ricarlison, GLC 40m, Sanchez 40m aren't but 60m for crappy Havertz(*) is?

Maddison, VDV, Johnson were just "opportunism"????????

Nahhhh, balls to all that.

(*I'd rather Udoggie, Bentancur, Sarr, Vicario all in than blow 60m on that twat just cos he has name value.)

Fair point

I'd count biss, madison, and ndombele as going all out to get clear first choice targets

The others had more expensive more recognised alternatives.

GLC > Bruno fernandes
Richarlison > lautaro martinez, dybala, nkunku etc.
VDV > tapsoba and before that bastoni...also providing a centre half 2 years too late is hardly strong backing. It's making up for self inflicted squad issues
Johnson > kvaratchelia,

It's easy to say in hindsight we'd rather have the players who have surprisingly gone on to have massive success like udogie, bentancur, kulusevski

You've also ignored the success of the other players on that list

How is this a flawed take on signings like this when Ange has delivered everything we wanted so far with signings. Johnson not hit the heights yet but the rest have been excellent so if Ange approves it then I think we should accept it.

I get where you are coming from. Someone posted Louis Saha and I laughed because we’ve done that so many times in the past.

But not every January loan is the same. The reason may not always be the same either.

It may be that we are waiting for more players to be available in the summer to have a better choice to bring in for the forward spots.

Lo Celso was preferred ahead of Bruno. He was hand picked by Poch.
Richarlison was bought in 2022, while we wanted Lautaro and Bastoni back in 2020 and 2021.
VDV was more preferred by Ange and Paratici than Tapsoba.
Johnson was bought in 2023, while we wanted Kvara in 2019/2020, and we all at the time thought "who the fuck is this nobody from Rubin Kazan" (same as with Kim and Fenerbahce).

He did shit at Chelsea and we all laughed. Hard to be excited about this signing. Still might be an upgrade on Richarlison, can't be a much worse finisher.

I can't really remember his game, is he quite quick? That'd be something, the amount of potential counter attacks that break down because our forwards are too slow to go past their opponent.

How can you comment on him if you can’t remember his game?

He paid it for Romero. Weren't we close to that with VDV too?

What doesn’t make sense is being willing to pay that much more for a player that you have tried to sign AFTER not wanting to pay that much for Todibo and then Dragusin.

If they thought this guy was worth so much more why not just try to sign him first?

The answer is that most likely they want to sign Dragusin and this Bade link is a load of cobblers
