Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

fyi Dennis Cirkin has been out injured for some time and had a set back a few days ago when attempting to come back so he'll be out for a number of weeks. Nobody is going to want to buy an injured player (see Sessegnon to see why)

Whilst we do have a buy back clause it still requires the player to agree to move from Sunderland where he's been living for a couple of years to return to London. We may or may not decide to follow that up in the summer.

We do want to buy players who have the potential to become top class - and there are very few of them around willing to move - as was widely reported in summer Kelly (Bournemouth) club refusing to allow move despite only 6/12 months left on contract, Tosin doesn't want to be 3rd CB| only wants to start etc
I'm sure with our new scouting system and data driven model, there will be many more names than two and we only need one or two on the list to agree to a move.
Werner has been a top class striker (many caps for Germany) and many CL appearances and is only aged 27. The question is whether he is still at that level. His best times were playing for Nagelesmann in a high line pressing team, so as Ange teams play like that, there is a reasonable chance he might perform at Spurs - but that is why its a loan with an option to buy as its uncertain. And there are very very few even half good strikers as alternatives.
Like I said before I don't think will end up buying Werner, I think he's there for cover, I don't he'll get much game time. Having said all that, I hope he does very well.

Udogie who was loaned out immediately and never actually saw Conte. NFI if Conte wanted him or not.
Porro, took an entire month, a month where we knew the price, we knew we needed him, and we dropped points while Levy fucked around trying to get a discount and failed.
Lost at home to Villa and Woolwich and away to City. By the time he arrived we were wobbling and he needed to get up to speed and we dropped even more points as a result (that Leicester game)

But yeah, you keep convincing yourself Levy is great and inventing ways to defend him

Never said Levy was great or anything of the sort.

We also bought Peresic for Conte did we not?

We have been building our current first team for 3 seasons. Levy fucked up the conte hire, he was never hanging around for long but I've been very very happy with our transfers for the last few years.

But it doesn't stop us from trying right?

doesn't stop us trying, and I am sure we will. The number of good players or players with potential is limited. Our best chances may be a youngster to loan back.

Most likely position to fill imo is a midfield player if Hojbjerg leaves, but nobody wants to pay much for Hojbjerg as Spanish/Itsalian clubs say they have no money. And not too many decent players available - hence most players transferred in summer

atm we expect to have 2 squad player places empty from Lloris and Dier which look to be filled by Dragusin and Werner.

No he’s not.

Besides which, there’s been plenty of links, even o’keefe said it was down to Ange re signing Werner.

I’ve ended MVP MVP for today and will now enjoy a nice walk and a skinny soy caramel latte. 😊

Boooooooom!
It's not even remotely possible to enjoy a skinny soy caramel latte

Dragusin is surely the CB we should have in the summer. Loan for Phillips? Buy replacement for Dier.

I didn't say anything about Champions League standard, I just said 2 CBs
Then what’s the point? We could have Tanganga and Rodon if we want sub-par CBs.
Yes he is available for 6 million we have a buy back clause until June 2024
You clearly don’t understand the concept of a buyback.
He played in a CL QF(?) just a couple of year ago and was excellent.

I'm going to try my hand at this clickbait headline writing...

Spurs suffer new injury blow as yet another defender set to miss time.
Already, missing their first choice centre half pairing of Mickey Van de Ven (injury,) and Cristian Romero (suspension,) Tottenham have been relying on a makeshift CB pairing of Ben Davies and Emerson Royal. With Ben Davies pulling up clutching his hamstring in the last match, Spurs were set to turn to Eric Dier. Dier however has picked up a knock on training and Big Ange has ruled him out due to injury.

Spurs handed setback in transfer market as top target addresses situation.
Spurs have been handed a blow in their pursuit of a striker to replace the departed Harry Kane who is enjoying life while scoring for fun, and setting records with Bayern in the Bundesliga.

Having been linked with Tottenham in recent windows it now appears that Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez is set to sign a new long term contract with Inter. Martinez took to Twitter recently to post an update that new long term deal was being finalized to stay at the San Siro.

Spurs have reacted quickly and pivoted to a loan deal for Chelsea flop Timo Werner. Fans will hope that Big Ange can resurrect a once promising career.

I'm not sayin Radu is a bad signing.
Werner is damaged goods he failed at Chelsea, he's failing at Leipzig much different than Soloman.
Typically these loan type punts, e.g Gedson, CV, Lenglet, Danjuma, don't work out, which is why I'm skeptical about the Werner signing.
And rightly so to be skeptical but out of them he’s the most high profile and the most likely to be able to produce. I think we are getting a hungry player with a point to prove so definitely worth the loan.
