Completely understand your point. But I think we can play, if needed, 2 AMs and 1 CM as a midfield 3.

I.e. on the occasions (hopefully rare!) that 2 of Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr are unavailable, we play 2 of Maddison/ GLC/ Kulu in midfield. Or do you think that's too ambitious?
Worst case scenario, we can even give Skipp some game time.

Personally, in a fantasy world; I'd love to see us play DM + 2 x advanced 8s (as originally mooted as Ange-ball last summer); but until we see it in the flesh I'm not inclined to legislate for it.......

The thought of eg:

Bentancur
Maddison / Kulu

....for example; sounds exciting; but so far this season we've always seen Ange pick 2 of Sarr/Biss/Benta/Skipp/PEH and reducing that pool by 1 player when we'd hope to be greatly increasing out fixture list makes no sense.

I reckon Madders is back for Sunday...

More likely to see Romero imo

Fair; agree to disagree.

Part of my reasoning is that I know Gallagher may be our Hojbjerg replacement... and I would prefer that 35m to be spent on an attacker.
We also have to be careful about the HG limit, which we're over in UEFA.

With the possibility of Europe, Devine could be handy and get enough minutes if he smashes the rest of this season.

In a utopia absolutely; but I will always advocate for young players getting as much game-time as poss.

We've seem from Poch what token-ism over youth (leading to splinters) can do to both the player in question AND the outlook of the lads still in the academy waiting to 'graduate' to the men's game.

Ndombele, Janssen, N'koudu, Lenglet, Gollini, Vinicius, Hart, Sessegnon*, Gedson, Pau Lopez, N'jie, Fazio, Stambouli, Paulino

*Willing to give Ange a good look at Sess. Even Sissoko came good eventually.

At least Ndombele Janssen, Nkoudou, Lenglet, Vinicius, Sessegnon, Njie, Fazio, Stambouli and Paulinho played games and contributed in some way at some point. Even if you didn't particularly rate them.

Gedson was a random loan. Gollini, Hart and Lopez were back up goalkeepers.

Spence cost us more than the majority on that list. Has done nothing but get kicked out out on loans TWICE and been sent back from one of those loans due to his attitude. Not even Ndombele and his laziness was ever forced to train with the u21s.
