You cant clamour for "world class talent" and then use players we had at the club. Son, Eriksen and certainly Dele weren't anywhere near world class before they arrived here.
And two of those who have left weren't considered world class when they did either.
So what do people actually want? Us to act like something we're not and sign a ready proven world class player. Something we've rarely ever done throughout our history
Or develop players into being seen by this fanbase as world class which we've seen plenty of times over the last two decades?

I think you can argue that Maddison and Richarlison were signed as fully developed top class players, none of Dele, Eriksen, Kane were. Son was already doing very well in Germany so he was a bit of an ambiguous one.
If we had a serious run at winning the league with Devine, Moore, Scarlett, Donley, Santiago, Phillips etc playing a significant part how good would that be?
I absolutely love Maddison and think he’s a way more exciting watch than Eriksen.
But to be fair he’s played 11 games for us.
Eriksen had a total of 160 goal contributions in 305 games and made us tick in our best couple of seasons in ages, and peaked at a 100 million market valuation.
I think your conclusion is perhaps a bit premature, but it’s in line with the tendency on here to evaluate Eriksen on the basis of his 2 last (underwhelming) seasons.

Maddison can do everything Eriksen did and tbh more.
Bentancur is on a level with Dembele as an all round CM. Nobody ever was on a level with Moose for ball carrying but he could never do what Bentancur just did vs UTD.
We didn’t have a Sarr or Bissouma in that squad. Fair enough we don’t have a Dele but he was as much a forward as he was a CM.
I get what you are saying but I don’t think this MF unit capable of less than the Poch years.
As for Modric, the guy won Ballon d’Or, we might never see a CM like that again at this club.

I'd take Eriksen off your list, but you're right about the others. They were truly one of a kind. But you only get that kind of player through scouting and patience.
None of them were the legends they became before they joined. All the guys you've relegated to less than world class still have time to level up! i.e. Madders, Bents and Sarr.
When people say world class who do they imagine. Maddison is 100% and elite international level attacking midfielder ( no matter what Southpark thinks). We are not measuring against iniesita. Right now Maddison gets into the Dutch Spanish Italian attacking midfielder slots. He'd have a contest with the French but could . World class does not mean Messi, Ronaldinho Zidane Iniesta these players are all-time greatest players, as were Gareth Bale and Luca Modric.That's not the metric.
