5 players, all of whom we took before they were big names. We made them big names, we didn't buy World Class.

We're doing pretty much the same with our crop of Bentancur, Sarr, Maddison (already established but has gone up a level with us), And Bissouma.

The difference is that we are in a position to keep them now, with contracts.to reflect that.

Which Premier League team has gone out and bought a 'World Class' midfielder in the past few years?
Chelsea. :bissoumahear: :ange-facepalm2::porrohands:

yea 50m needs to be bringing in someone on the same level as madders, not a squad player. so that rules eze and olise out. to be fair that alex scott does look really promising. his goal against us is the sort of classy goal that goes unnoticed. he does look legit. i dont get the hype with eze, not seen him really take a game for palace, watched them play a 10 man Woolwich and he did fuck all! thats when your playmaker should be getting on the ball and punishing a side with 10 and he did sweet fuck all. id have gibbs-white over him.
Well I kept going on about Scott last summer as we were rumoured to be I for him and his a spurs fan. However someone at the club decided not to and he went to bmouth. We then go and get BJ for £50M slightly diff position but I’m sure Scott would have been great yday. Prbly too late now bmouth are not gonna sell after one season and will ask dbl.

yea his price will be 30 or more after this season. does look a good player. got that class about him that many dont have, while also looking like he can handle the physical side of it well enough.

i think he makes a world 11 now to be honest. romero at his best is a joke of a CB. i cant think of anyone id want over him. VVD had one or two elite seasons but hes nowhere near that level now.

udogie has a lot of improving to do in his defending side of the game, but hes young so it might just happen. he potentially has the gifts to be the best LB in the world if he can tune up his defending.

Yep. Saw this showreel before.
Very impressive. 2 footed, strong skilful and quick-ish.

20yo

He's also just mentioned Johnathon Rowe at Norwich as one we're interested in.

Reminds me a bit of Eze bus-conductor bus-conductor

Probably the equivalent of an Eze before going to Palace and becoming very very expensive indeed. We should be all over it like a tramp on chips.

The world class debate is one of the most pointless football debates you can have, it's a subjective term.

What I will say is that our midfield options are bloody excellent and we have a few players in there who currently are and can grow into some of the best players in their position in the Prem in time.

Whether that makes them world class or not, who cares but the players have the potential to be outstanding that's for sure.

We won't be buying a 'world class' mid (whatever that means) because we are unlikely to attract one anyway.

We had a midfield with Christian Eriksen, Mousa Dembele, and peak Dele Alli in it just 6 years ago. We don’t have that quality today.

We had Bale and Modric 10 years ago. We must aspire to that level and beyond again.

This project has the potential to really become special but we must not settle for scraps or very good. We need all timers. That’s all I will say. We need to raise our standards, all of us. The world class midfield centerpiece is what will take us to the next level. The trophy lifting level.

When we signed those players they weren't top shelf level players to begin with, they improved through coaching and experience, same needs to apply here.
