Awesome player and has Assou-Ekotto vibes so Spurs fans would take to him straight away.

Not sure if he's the fit for squad balance just because he's left footed and plays as an inverted RW. We have Brennan who is better as a trad RW and Deki that is somewhere between inverted RW and 10. Olise is basically Deki in the dynamics of our squad.

Tbh I know we need an elite level forward but really not sure what type or which side they need to be.

There's a lot of versatility in our attacking options; the main thing is whoever we bring in needs to be a reliable goal-threat. Right now it's still only Sonny that can push 20-30 in all comps.... In 2016/17 we had 3 (+ Eriksen in double figures)!

That year we scored 2.26 (86 total)

But we are are at 2.1 goals per game this season without Maddison for half of it. We are getting goals from everywhere without having the same 3 sources in every game.

Every forward should be a reliable goal threat but it's kind of unclear what piece of the puzzle they should be. That's why the Werner loan made a lot of sense because we should have a better idea by the end of the season and we will have budget then too.

I do see a lot of intelligence in Olise's play which does liken him to Kulu, but his dribbling is way, way better than Kulu and Johnson. He is not afraid to take on his man, has a good turn of pace and that mercurial quality of not ever quite knowing where he is going to go, in stark contrast to Kulu's by-the-numbers approach of hug the touchline til the 18 yard box and look to cut inside. Add to that he is adding goals to his game this season and already had a phenomenal eye for a pass or cross, he would be a nailed on starter in this team IMO and Kulu/Johnson would be rotating for the 10/RW spots respectively. I don't think its bullshit that all 6 of the top English teams that have the money to buy him are after him at all, he has all the potential to be one of the best in the world in his position.

I’d take Olise over Johnson all day. Even on a swap and us paying some cash. That would be my hugely unlikely preference

I could see him starting as well but not sure I could see us spending the money on a player where we already have 2 players.

Yeh.... Been saying that since before the season started.......

No more Kane....
What's Sonny's best position moving fwd....?
Can Richy find himself in Lilywhite....?
Perisic last season....
Is Kulu's future as a RW...?
Solomon....?????
Gil......?????
Veliz/Scarlett/Parrot....?????
.....Even Johnson.

.......We didn't really know what we had and a lot of those questions still remain tbh.

In the interim; I kinda see it this way for next season:

ST: Son/Richy/Veliz
RW: Kulu/Johnson
LW: ???? + Solomon

.....Is that last spot Werner? .....Still lacks goals from out wide either way IMO.

Or if you City/Chelsea, you define your own speed limit and, when pulled over, you just tell the Bobby to remember where his paycheck and bonuses come from.

Looks like it was a good move for both, he got a pay rise for a year and Palace will get a decent fee £60m

Depends on what 12-months of that pay-hike amounted to Vs. whatever extra his agent could have negotiated if he'd left for a lower fee (multiplied by the length of his contract at a new club).

......Yeh, obviously it's a preferable situ for Palace tho'; that's not in doubt.

My guess is Veliz goes on loan next season. But yeah it does look to me as well that the spot we need someone in is that LWF. Sonny will play there a lot when Richy is in form but we need a top class player there pushing to start IMO or at least a younger one that can start the year after.

Werner? let's see. No harm in giving him until the summer to show it.

I want BJ to come good, I really do, and I don't want to see Kulu on the bench, but the pragmatist in me says if you can get Olise for £50m or thereabouts you don't fuck about with emotions, you go and get him knowing he will light it up. Call it a "big club mentality".

Also..... I was talking all comps......

In the EPL that year; HK,HMS,DA & CE scored 69 in the league between them so the sprinkling of goals from others still needed to be there across the league and other comps....

Same logic though. We get goals from a much wider variety of places in this football.
