Transfers January Transfer Thread 2024

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Hi, my name is Federico Redondo. I'm 20 yo and to date I've played 35 league games, of which 19 have been starts. My first season I played an average of 30 mins and in my second, 60. My team is a midtable side in Argentina.

And yet, cause my dad was a superhero, there are some on TFC who see me as the next big thing. I should be replacing Bissouma and I'm in the same category as WZE, even though the PSG wunderkind has over 50 league games to his name + a regular starter in the CL + now playing for France.

Pal, I'm not having a go at you and I ain't saying the great Fernando (one of my all-time favourites) has a dud for a kid but come on, let's be real...the vast majority of those talking about him know nothing about the kid and all they've seen is his HL reel.

Dig deeper and it seems pretty clear & obvious (no need for VAR) that he isn't yet ready for the top level and that unless he suddenly gets hit by a magic lightning bolt, he's at the bare minimum 3 years away from being in the convo for a role in a team like ours, let alone a starring one.
I tell you what is hillarous, the complete one eighty on Yves Bissouma. Okay he had a form dip, and with it gave the ball away a bit, he seemed weary and was consequently caught out trying to retrieve errors so started lunging a bit, one such episode saw him sent off. The dive inexcusable and rightly punished but its part of modern football. Prior to this sequence he was consistently excellent people in those first ten games were saying he was BETTER than Dembele. He was not but likewise he isn't now some shit liability easily bettered by some child in Argentina.

He has been made a lynchpin in a big team for the first time in his career, and will have to grow into the role but the idea there are tons of midfield six type players better than him is just recency bias. Like the whole team he suffered from the injuries to the settled side around him, in particular the loss of Maddison. He has a massive part to play in our short to medium term future and I suspect he's going to make a few people look daft when he regains form and fitness.

It is, in fact, incredibly meaningful, as it relates to the pursuit of one player: Conor Chavski Gallagher. Or as I call him, Nando’s.

We must expand our palate and expect more for ourselves. We must broaden our horizons and raise our standards to the highest level.

For £50m, Conor Gallagher is Nando’s. well known, well documented, consistent, safe.

And if all you’ve had is Chick King, Nando’s may seem like the end all-be all of food search.

But there’s Alain Ducasse out there. And we can’t get stuck on Nando’s when there’s Michelin starred restaurants to try.

No idea what your point is. This is merely colorful waffle........ This doesn't correlate to all your earlier hot (not hot) takes about the quality of our players.

.....Regardless, Modric, Dembele (past) and Maddison, Bentancur, Biss, Sarr (present) aren't fucking ChickKing-level 'cuisine'.

Frankly; ya talking shite.

Some cunt want to decipher this for me?

What team in the league wouldn’t want Biss,Sarr,Bentancur,Maddison,Kulusevski and Lo Celso as their options for midfield?
Add in Hojbjerg who is likely more appreciated by other clubs fans than ours and Skipp who can fill a gap if needed.
We could be adding another to that before the window is done too. We are in a good spot right now.

Those other clubs appreciating Hojbjerg should start a whip round and come get him.

Make no mistake, on form at the start of the season, Biss was a top 2 DM in the prem and we were right to be very excited about him.

For the first time in.....well, first time ever actually, Spurs have done most of their business in the transfer market early. As a result the transfer thread is going to get weird. Really fucking weird.

Yesterday we were discussing the merits of different farm animals - mainly Sheep vs Goats - today we have moved onto the Nando's of homegrown central midfielders.

None of it makes sense and it's only going to get worse from here.
