How Dry should our Powder be?

Dragusin is the perfect example of how we should be approaching depth and squad expansion.
Correct,we don’t know if he’s top notch but he has the attributes and potential to be.
If we sign players like KWP who is an ok player and nothing more then we stand still. This isn’t being disrespectful to the likes of Royal and Davies but if that’s our cover then we don’t move forward because Porro and Udogie will miss games and the drop off is too big. I want to see guys come in that might actually take their places and then they are the back ups. If that happened we’d be in a great place and that’s how you improve dramatically and evolve.

My point is more about who to buy instead......

If the plan is to replace Royal & Davies with the likes of KWP we might as well keep them.

Sess, Reg, Japh (and most likely Spence also) all need to go first anyway.

I’m pretty sure going by what we’ve seen in the last year or so with the recruitment is the cover will be excellent younger players that will have time to learn the system but will flourish if they get in. Look at Udogie, nobody thought he’d come in and nail it straight away, same with VDV and Radu looks the same. Bergvall ability wise and just the way he moves looks like he will come in and push to play even though he’s very young. Veliz might be the to challenge Sonny and Richy if he’s still here. There’s a pattern now and we are looking to build for now but even more for the future.
I think the summer will be interesting

TBF the strategy wasn't so different in the past.... It was the scouting that let us down.

Trippier, Davies, Sanchez, Foyth, Sessengon, Ndombele, GLC, Jansen, Gazzaniga (even punts like Clarke, GKN & Njie) were all the right age and profile. Aurier slightly older and more experienced, but still had plenty of good years ahead of him........ (+ later Bergwijn, Reg & Rodon.)

..................I mean; that's virtually the next Poch XI if they'd delivered and it wasn't cheap either.

Llorente, Lucas & Sissoko (+ later Doherty) were the only real contradictions to that profile.

Cheap and Tesco valuE

Maybe when the new stadium opens, or we qualify for the CL we can compete financially with the Newcastle’s and the Villas - until then, it’s us, Brighton and Brentford moving in the same market
Vicario was cheap and Tesco value and he’s done not to badly. Arguably he’s been the best keeper in the league this season. I’m quite happy to be in the same market as those teams if we can keep getting the quality of players like Udogie,Vicario,VDV,Dragusin ,Maddison,Sarr,Bentancur and Kulusevski.
I do get adding real top players but we all know we won’t go for them so we need to trust the recruitment and manager to take us to the next level with the plan they have in place.

"Tesco value" implies mediocre quality.......

You're indulging a moron by further using that phrase..... He doesn't deserve that.

What Lies Beneath (Spurscommunity ITK)
Archie gray could be an incoming in the summer heavily interested and could help with them wanting the Rodon deal.

In proper ITK tradition capital letters and comas/punctuations are missing.
This is a player I'd like at Spurs - he's HG, can play RB, CD & CM....
Transfermarkt have his value at €16m; so I am sure Leeds will respect that valuation
Seriously, I can't see him joint Spurs this summer, for various reasons.

At some point the quality will drop and we’ll get a few players that don’t settle, or don’t flourish. Our recruitment has been superb, too early to say re: Drag but he looks a smart purchase too. I still think that 5ft0, bald dweeb needs to prepare to balance these value players with the odd expensive, big money signing or it will only go so far and we’ll never challenge. Players like Rice, VVD and Allison was very expensive and overpriced but in the long run have been great value and seen both clubs kick on a level. If Ange is desperate for a 100M PL proven player this summer, will we back him and augment the other players?

You have a lot less skin in the game and shouldn’t be part of the debate. You don’t pay the highest ticket prices in the world therefore have lower expectations - that’s understandable

Don’t brand people morons for having different expectations you patronising weasel - some of us want more than 1 league cup in 25 years and blindly sticking to a low cost, but well scouted transfer strategy is unlikely to deliver (albeit a massive improvement on prior years when Levy was repeatedly making disastrous buying decisions and writing off season after season)

We spent £60m on Ndombele
We spent considerably less on Udogie

Who has been better value?

It is NOT about the amount spent. It’s about proper scouting and being prepared to go hard for the players identified.

That’s it.

There’s no argument you can come back with that will prove that wrong so don’t even bother.

Consider this doneski.

Oh and ‘patronising weasel’? You speak to me the way you just did to Airfixx Airfixx and you will fucking well regret it.

Exactly.

A lot of noise was made about being persuasive ane financially secure enough to go head to head with Bayern in January for Dragusin.

The real marker of where the club stands will be this summer. If the gooners and chavski are interested in the same player, will we try to compete or do the usual and duck out because we "don't want to get into a bidding war"???
