Don't need him to be. Just needs to contribute more than Sess & Reggy combined, which ain't that tough a feat.

English, young, decent experience in a big league, versatile, should cost no more than 20 mil...or even less if there's a deal to be done for PEH. Plenty to like basically.

Yeah agree. if he's coming as a LB, I can see all the upside in doing the deal. They have def played him at WB this year so he must have the chops defensively.

Let's go get Patterson (SAFC) or Trafford (Burnley) to play backup to Vic. Both super talented young English goalies, already experienced despite their age, plenty potential to become ENG no 1. We'll be in Europe next year, they'll get the gametime to develop further...knowing they'd also play in the domestic cups, at least the early rounds.

Wouldn't cost the Earth and we've defo got players that'd be of interest to Sunderland or Burnley, even on loan, for their next Champo campaign or if by some miracle they're in the PL next year.

Patterson (fuck you Woolwich!)

James Trafford is possibly the most promising English goalkeeper right now and most probably the future no. 1 for England ...so I doubt (hope I am wrong) he'll join Spurs to be an understudy.

Saw he got dropped last game and the keeper that came in for him had a good game. Be interesting to see what happens the rest of the season with him, might end up being backup at Burnley.

Signing someone who'd never played higher than League One football and replacing the Championship goalkeeper of the year, who helped you up, was a shocking decision by Kompany and it may have honestly cost them

City and Liverpool are sorted goalie-wise. Don't see our cunty neighbours move on from Raya, same with United and Onana, Villa with Martinez.

If he wants to stay in the PL and join a top club, I'd like to think we'd be top of his list. But yeah, depends if he gets offered ridiculous wages by the Chavs or Barcodes.

And say you're right and the kid wants to keep being a No 1, in that case yeah he may prefer joining a Fulham/Spam/Brighton type.

We should still put an offer in, knowing a "Mate" from the big fella is a weapon other teams don't possess.

That Patterson kid from Sunderland would make me pretty happy, should we not get the Burnley lad.

In another post you'll be saying stuff like "we need to aim higher with our targets" and "buying back-ups = future deadwood"........

..........."Just be better than Sess & Reg" is a puerile criteria; much like "anyone but Nuno" and "anyone who plays attacking football".

Esp. because if we get CL there's no way Vic gets rested/rotated for Europe........ So it'll be back to just emergencies and and a few LC & FAcup game if he's lucky.

Yeah, I do like Trafford, seen him play really well in the England youth setup but maybe a bit much too soon.

I just don't see why a GK that's playing EPL at his age is gonna bin that off for someone else's bench.....

You're 10 times better off trying to get in at a lower table and carry on with your development via regular game time.

Might be on the bench either way if they go back to playing Muric. In any case, we'll prob just keep Forster around next season since the club just extended his contract and get a new backup keeper Summer 2025. Prob another old HG one like Pickford, Johnstone, Butland etc.

England's #1 isn't coming here to ride the bench..... If Everton get the flush he'll keep his place so long as he plays regularly at another EPL club. Coming here would be like int. retirement.

Re: Forster - I sincerely hope not........ 3rd place then fine; but if he's our #2 we're screwed if anything serious happens to Vic. (I hope that ext. deal is more keeping him on the books so he can transition into the GK coaching crew..... He's well respected behind the scenes apparently.)
