Regarding the midfielder we need after Hojbjerg and Lo Celso likely leaving, what do most want?

For me personally I want a deep lying playmaker type with great passing who is astute enough defensively to not be a liability.

I'm not sure we will get a better tackler and duel winner/ ball carrier than Bissouma.
That dude plays for Atalanta everyone said was shite. .he looked pretty damn good last night.

If you want to focus on that part of the debate then fine, you win, if that's what's important to you then fill your boots if you wanna do cheap point scoring.

But ultimately by bringing Mount my point still stands so what we we even doing here...

Check out his season heatmap, he plays mainly on the right-hand side but also drifts centrally and spends a fair bit of his time on the left. Kid is pretty versatile, great technique, good with either peg.

But they spent 40ish mil on him and I hardly see them sell for any less, especially as he's a better, more experienced player these days.
Might find they have to sell for whatever they can get come 30th June.
Villa probably in that boat as well.
That boat is getting full. Everton and Chelsea already in it.
This is Daniel’s time. He has the money, those clubs all want it, naye NEED it and have to have it or the points are going again.
Small story on Daniel from Steve Bruce last week on the radio.
When Villa were going bust and we were trying to steal Grealish, Daniel was ringing Bruce every day when Steve was on holiday, trying to sign Grealish for 8m. Bonkers.

i quite like PEH, he offers the midfield something different and when hes come on as a sub hes actually impacted the games. just not a starter, if hes happy with this role in a side that should be competing on 4 fronts next year then hapy to keep.

not sure a deep lying playmaker is needed if you have maddison? i think a better balance would be two sarr type midfielders, ones that can do everything. we kind of have good enough options with biss, bent and sarr as it is. the midfield is strong, its the front line that needs the attention.

we havent got one single player in that front line that youd be happy with starting in a CL knockout game. all are what should be squad players for a side who wants to be a big dog in europe.

Yeah PEH is a strange one for me I was very critical of him and didn't like the fact he was our first choice midfielder for so long.

But he's a good pro and good at most things although he's a liability at times aswell.

I think the balance of our midfield is good, But when we are on top of games we lack any sort of threat from deep that's where I think an great passer could help as well as every now and then scoring a cracker in tight games.

No one presses Bissouma anymore because they know he isn't a threat until they press him.

Maybe he can save it for the odd game in the CL but on a week to week basis, those legs are gone. You don't pay someone the wages he'd want to be able to maybe turn it on for the odd game. Then there is the beast that is the premier league. turning it on in a slow as fuck CL game is not the same as turning it on in a breakneck, helter-skelter prem game.

Nothing that happened in that game changed anything. He could turn it on and help them win a CL final and it wouldn't change the fact that Lewa would be a terrible use of financial resources for Spurs right now.
He is not even an option so we can let that one go. What you can’t say is that he’s not top notch still. That game the other night was much quicker than anything g I’ve watched from us lately. His legs have not gone mate. If that’s the case Kane’s legs went 5 years ago. Both those players have mastered their trade and that’s why Lewandowski can still play every game for Barcelona. I’ll say that again,Barcalona, still one of the biggest if not the biggest club in the world. Kane will be dining the same in 5 years.
I’ve watched him quite a few times this season for Barca and Poland and he certainly doesn’t look done to me.
He’d still score more goals than Sonny or Richarlison playing for us.

More than Sonny? Not a chance in hell.

It’s very different watching him on TV in a one off huge game in the CL to in person in a regular La liga game.

Even if it looked high tempo last night, he is never doing that every week in the prem.
