Ramos who came in with a reputation for attacking football, who had us looking pretty good the first 2 or 3 months with some standout performances before hitting the skids, watching the players almost give up on the season, having nothing to stop the decline and that dragging into the following season and being sacked in October. I think thats a decent example.

Ramos is actually a pretty good comparison the more I think about it.

My big worry is that it's very likely we start the new season in the same way we finish this season.

We've seen it before with Ramos and even Poch .

Fuck knows now whether to stick or twist.

A fan who has wants to see his team win stuff, crazy I know!

It’s no skywalk or go-karting but it’s a start.

You'd be happy to sell your soul for a trophy if it meant flirting in relegation and selling our best players keeping us firmly in mid table...of course you would because you want the club to sit firmly in its comfort zone.

Pointless even competing for anything then, may as well hire Roy Hodgson and pray for a cup run now and then just for the hopeful dopamine hit of a League Cup you might feel every so often.

Grim.

The Aussie is completely out of his depth. If the rumours are true that they are all in on Ange and intend to back him fully over the summer, god help us. Next season is going to be brutal. Prepare ourselves for a relegation battle. We’d be 16th if the season started in January.

Agree with most of what you'd said but I'm not sure where people are getting this "we'd be 16th if the season started in January" stuff. We're roughly 10th on that metric.

So many straw men in there I don’t know where to start tbh. You’re clearly on the wind up so let’s leave it there…ok 👍

This was the reality the last time we won a trophy mate, these are exactly the days what you want back.

You probably didn't think it through but when you lay it bear it's not such a nice thing to think about is it.

Couple questions to the AngeOut lot:

- Who do you get instead?

- You honestly think a Tuchel/Amorim/Slot/whoever else would get a better tune out of that squad?

- Say we get someone else in and our performances improve...how long that gonna last? How long til the next crisis and sacking?

I'm certainly not saying the big fella is blameless. He's made several mistakes and yeah he may not have what it takes to be a success in the PL. But come on now, is he really the No 1 issue we have and the reason our club is such a friggin mess? Nah he's just another scapegoat. Tree that hides the forest and all that.

Honestly no idea, which is why I wouldn't get rid of him now. Sacking seems premature in any event. Definitely right to ask questions and pose a few criticisms though. Otherwise what is this place for? Just chest beating and "yeah, we'll smash 'em!" bullshit?

I think they would adapt the tactics of the team to the situation they find themselves or even make changes during the course of individual games to account for our weaknesses.

They'd probably drill on set pieces too.

Every manager has their flaws, no one knows about how Amorim or Slot would fare in this league just yet but you're right on Tuchel, tactically I think he would have got more out of this squad but he would have probably pissed the players off like he usually does so...

Employ someone who won't take us to the championship. That's where we're headed if e stick with this idiot.

Even our shit form since December wouldn't have us near the relegation places so let's not get silly.

Who is this person that you think would do better than Nuno, Mourhino, Conte and Postecoglou?

And are they available?

And would they come?

And would they have got us any higher than fifth in their very first Premier League season?

The easiest thing to do is to change the manager and hope for the best - meaning we'll have yet another transitional season, no clear plan and a hotchpotch team that would have been assembled by 5 different managers.

Or

We could keep the faith knowing that it was always going to be a shit time with a new manager with a new way of thinking and having just lost one of the Premier Leagues greatest strikers of all time and not really replaced him.

He brought in VDV, Vicario, Dragusin, Maddison, Johnson, Solomon and loaned Werner on his watch so I'd say four out of his five signings weren't too bad. He also put Udogie straight into the side.

So I'd say four out of his first five signings have been pretty good. The jury is still out on Solomon but he played most of the games in our brilliant ten game start to the season.

First half against Liverpool we got an xG of 0.04. I'd expect Newport County to give Liverpool a better match, never mind another manager with our squad full of internationalists.

We've lost 4 in a row for the first time in 20 years, so yeah I'd expect better given the players available.

Would another manager insist on playing BJ on his weak side, Son up top and no real centre forward when one was available and had all the desire and hatred for Liverpool that would have guaranteed full effort?

Absolutely, I'm with you.

Like I said, Ange has made his fair share of mistakes. Denying that is just blind cultism.

But:

- He's been here 5 minutes and he's still learning

- So many of our players...internationals or not...aren't up to the task. And I ain't just talking tactics and tekkers

- He ain't the main issue that needs addressing
