Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

Liew is different when it comes to Ange. He uses his platform to forward a personal agenda. It dates back to his Celtic days.

No issues with being a Karen about calling that useless waste of column inches out. There are thousands of younger, more professional journalists out there that would kill for an opportunity to cover the sport from his position and no doubt 99% of them would act in a more professional manner than Liew does with Ange.

Fuck me. Would read liew all day over most of the other tripe out there.

Never read a John Crace article then.

His “unprofessional” writing about our politicians might finish you off.

Another great spurs journalist btw.

For someone who breezes around this forum with an air of superiority and assuredness of your own fucking knowledge on everything you're unsurprisingly wrong.

Under the Equality Act 2010, race is a protected characteristic, and you must not therefore be discriminated against because of your race. Race can mean your colour, or your nationality (including your citizenship). It can also mean your ethnic or national origins, which may not be the same as your current nationality.

Doing an accent isn’t discriminating against him because of his nationality anymore than doing a Jose impression or a Dyche impression is discriminating against them because of their nationality.

Did he mock the voice, or did he do an impression of him where he mocked what he was saying?

For someone who breezes around here being wrong about everything..

In fairness to his writing, I only have an issue with his clearly personal agenda against Ange.

If there are a few of you that like his writing, I’m sure he’s great but that doesn’t excuse him using his position at the Guardian to push a personal agenda.

Well, after 10 games, other prem teams figured out that playing Royal and Davies as our center back pair wasn't very good - bit still managed a 3-3 draw away at City.

We went on another decent run when Romero was back from suspension and Richarlison was finally fit. We won 11 out of 16 games, only losing 2 games to Wolves and Fulham.

There is no shame in losing to Liverpool, Woolwich and City towards the end of the season. They are better than us and all were playing for the title. Chelsea and Newcastle are could have gone our way, but the players on the pitch shit the bed with individual errors - not so much the system.

There is a long way to go before we can compete for the title but turning around 2 or 3 results next season with squad improvements is easily achievable.

Exactly. If those matches had been spread over the season rather than in a group of four it would have been different. As I said last week, whilst the Woolwich performance was a disgrace, I am much more pissed off with those two defeats against villa and west ham at home in games we should have won, for example. Or throwing away wins at Everton and Wolves away. Those four games instead are why we not playing champions league matches next season.

Read this article and tell me what’s wrong with this?

He writes what he thinks. He’s honest. He’s eloquent. That’s it.

People can read your Martin Samuel’s and Matt Lawton’s if thats your thing. Lots of choice out there.

I may be wrong about lots of things, hell I admit it. I don't pretend otherwise, unlike many unbearable mouth breathers round here. Either way your absolutely assured statement that being Australian isn't in itself a protected characteristic is wrong.

Enjoy your lunch.

yep.

A fan getting ejected for saying what most feel. Even if he told him to throw the game so what? he's entitled to have that opinion and say it as we apparently live in a democracy.

We dont actually hear what he said, so we dont know. Although it has transpired that he actually was a man city fan celebrating their goal just sat in the tunnel club seats. No wonder Ange was pissed off, he shouldnt have been there.

You know, I was musing on what I would have done, had I been in Ange’s place looking ahead to the City match before the Villa result. Could I really have considered throwing the match? What a dilemma…

Calling people ‘mouth breathers’ is a shit load more offensive than doing a bad Australian accent, but then it’s always the people who … oh never mind.

Is it a good read? Or is it just another nonsense article from a twat with a pen and a dictionary?

First paragraph tells me the latter..

Happy to be proved wrong
Liew's a pint-sized wannabe Ronay but there are some facts buried in amongst his usual crap. We have had some great, entertaining games where we've lost and they have been painted as victories of a sort. But sometimes Ange sees - well, saw - the elements of progress he's looking for in those games. That they have largely failed to mature in this calendar year he now puts down to players and staff (and seemingly fans) who possess a weak mentality, something he wants to correct this coming window and season.

I'm all for giving him a chance to do this partly because I don't think bringing in yet another manager will lead us anywhere more positive right now and partly because I enjoy the football we play (when we really play) considerably more than the dross served up this past few years.

Do I think he'll succeed and win us the PL? Not right this minute, no - and not just because he's not up to it. It's a question of being able to maintain the way he wants us to play throughout the whole of the PL season and I can't see it being sustainable. It's just too gruelling a league filled with too many wily managers and too many other competitions taking place at the same time. Ange ball isn't that clever and Levy's pockets aren't that deep. But a domestic or even the EL cup? I don't see why not

The entire first paragraph was unprofessional imo.

I stopped reading after that not giving him another click to read it again.

Fan 1"Just got thrown out of the stadium"

Fan 2 "What did you say mate"

Fan 1 "Just a load of racist chanting, you know the usual, added a bit of homophobia as well"

Fan 2 "That's crazy, I thought we lived in a democratic society"

Fan 1 " I know mate, shocking"

and that is more than enough to persist with him if you ask me.

Looking forward to his press conference tomorrow as he has had a while to digest things.

I have a feeling he regrets delegating so much of the coaching and that is what he means about reassessing and doing things differently, but it is fine. It wont be any deeper than that.

But it shouldn't be for a professional manager. He, the team and all the support staff around him have to want to win every game. He has a different view and responsibility than the fans when it comes to this and that's absolutely fine.

This is spot on. He encouraged exactly the mindset he is now making out is so offensive to him. We have to be honest about what is happening, and any sensible critique of Ange Postecoglou has to be honest about the good and the bad. He has promoted feels over pragmatism and it went sour.
Agree. First off i dont think there is any appetite for a change of manager this summer, you cant sack someone for getting (hopefully) 66 pts and 5th place in their first season. He has at least tried to get us playing front foot football after 5 years of suffer-ball. The intent is there even if not always successful. I'm happy he tried something different against City and that is a positive going forward.

But there is a feeling he is almost becoming the first 'post results' manager where its all quotes, soundbites, talk of Bill Nic and vibes. Apart from that Ramos spell we're on our worst set of results in 20 years, be it over 10 or 27 games and it barely seems to warrant a mention. In all my years supporting us i cant think of any other manager who has got off so lightly, with so little scrutiny after such a poor run.

You can talk about winning all you like but at some point you have to back that up with actual results, preferably against teams other than those in the relegation mire. That really needs to happen from the start of next season. Buy him some good players and see what happens, i still want him to be successful. I'll admit i'm firmly in the sceptical side that he will but we have to see how it plays out.

I wonder if he will get one of his previous coaches into the set up? I did find it strange that he didnt bring anyone in with him (albeit being his thing when he goes into a club).
