Manager Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

so his real anxiety if we lost 0-5 was the perception of him? please dont ever argue that this man isnt extremley egotistical.

At least he himself admits he was mocking.

It has to be, because at the moment the driving force of change amongst and on top of this all...is HIM.

He talks about it here...the below is a link.

The ' This is my purpose' segment

from 5 minutes for about 40 seconds after

He mocked the suggestion in a press conference that most fans wanted to lose.

He didn’t mock the fans with anything he said during or after the game.

There is a difference
eh???

I said when talking about that press conference that he's mocking us about our perception on the rivalrly and him walking through corridors and seeing no trophy for winning rivalries.

You stated he wasn't mocking/joking about that and was deadly serious. Would you like to be reminded of this(as you regularly say about 2 different things contradicting yourself)?

Obvious to you on the outside with much less information than these managers need to include in their decision making
You're just doing too much, fella.

Most of us are hoping he works out and gets it all together (respecting the fans in the process), but he's been very clear - and unashamed - about forging on with his model, come what may.

He's been true to that and reluctant to pull our methodology too far away from that to turn certain games around.

I understand it to a degree - as he wants to ingrain a principle - but it has clearly led to him heaping tons of pressure on himself that he can't deal with, which translated into him being petrified to lose the city game, for the impact it may have on his image.

If we'd have done the stock, solid adjustments that could have turned many of our loses around, I don't think this situation would have held such a threat to him.

I think it's a bit rich, in the circumstances, for him to now flex on his tactical flexibility.

Seriously.

Just sounds like more sensitivity lash-out.

If you have a strict system such as he does, he must be prepared for the criticism and heat that comes with it and find a way to absorb it.

He himself told us it would be ropey and rocky and we may lose a fair bit.

He needs to now learn how to cope with the extra scrutiny and criticism that comes with being at a -success starved - premier league club.

He's on a learning curve, but he has to learn quick.

"Even watching the game back, there was a comment on the commentary 'Oh, Tottenham are having a real go here'. You're laughing about it but that's 26 years of my life, if nothing else people should know I love this game. I hate to think - as Man City could have done to us - we're on the end of a heavy defeat and people are questioning whether I prepared the team.

"Before people say 'that's not going to happen', we know on social media it would have happened. 100 per cent.
And I'd have to be up here trying to defend myself. And once you start defending yourself you know what happens, you're defending something.

"That's why I was animated on the night. I didn't enjoy the night."

Wasn't he just saying the other day about if you believe everything on social media you need counselling? (In regards to mocking the idea of supporters wanting us to lose.)

Also, why does he care so much about himself being questioned on social media but, in his words

"It wasn't just Spurs supporters. Everyone I heard said they understand how they feel. (about wanting to lose the match) Well I don't understand. I just can't think of anything worse than not going all in on victory every time you're out there."

So you don't understand why supporters wouldn't want to be relentlessly mocked both on and off social media for handing our bitter rivals the title but the idea of someone questioning your integrity on social media bothers you?

he still hasn’t apologized for mocking the fans because he didn’t.

He dismissed the idea that more of us wanted to lose. It’s not the same.

The press conference I watched (did you even watch it? Or just read quotes without context) I didn’t see one joke.

yeh he absolutely ridiculed social media and stated somebody needed counselling because they mentioned opinions on social media.

Now he's openly admitting he suffered anxiety and he didn't want to lose 0-5 due to the opinions of him on....social media.

you couldn't make it up.

Looks like Ange needs the season to end and then get back to what he does well... identify excellent talent to improve his squad.

I hope he doesn't feel too scorched by recent events.
You are worried about him being ‘Scorched by recent events’ !?! Most of us are pissed off with 4 defeats in a row. Gifting 2 goals from successive corners in a home NLD, getting soundly beaten by Chelscum and Liverpool. He has more control over those events than anyone else.

The sad fact is, I think there would have been fans who would have found a way to justify having that opinion.
I would imagine it would be "CL never did us any good anyway" or better still "We're not ready for it"
Can we just give it a rest with all this now, its getting tedious that im still reading posts about people not bothered about losing if it fucked over our rivals, its done now - move on!

He's still acting like this is our raison d'etre as a fanbase and not an extremely rare event that we wished to make a single exception for.

It's properly annoying and is just feeding the media a really shit narrative they are more than happy to run with/augment their armoury against us with.

I love authentic managers.
Fair enough.

But he’s given the hideous media ammunition for months. If Sky ask you if the issues are resolved, you say ‘Never were any mate. Just a crazy week. We’re looking forward to Sunday, confirming Europe and then planning for next season. Next question.’

Instead, this question is now going to get dragged out for however many weeks.

You’ve got to shut it down.
