Fair enough.
But he’s given the hideous media ammunition for months. If Sky ask you if the issues are resolved, you say ‘Never were any mate. Just a crazy week. We’re looking forward to Sunday, confirming Europe and then planning for next season. Next question.’
Instead, this question is now going to get dragged out for however many weeks.
You’ve got to shut it down.
I honestly believe saying that would do nothing.
1. What's been totally obvious since is rant is that the media will project preconceived tropes and agendas onto his words. I've seen so many of them linking Jose's and Conte's comments together for example. Madness as they aren't even related in any way shape or form
2. Fans also doing the above - Bringing up Levy, linking it to losing against Woolwich ar Chavs. Again totally unrelated. (people may have beef on these things but Ange's comments are completely and utterly not relatable).
He's owned what he said, (not done a snide Artteta thing and pretended he meant something else in a different language - Litterall the world laughed at him for doing that).
Had he lied about what he said it would have been obvious, it means in press confs it's a scab they will pick forever trying to get the same reaction.
The only highly predictable thing to come now is whether he answered how you suggest or in the way he just has, there will still be the same media and fans using what he said post-match over and over again and completely ignoring today's comments.
I've not had the chance to see how his comments have been taken but I'd guess there is more of a "fair enough" or Fair play to him for owning up to getting something wrong" than a more sarcastic line of "yeah alright mate we believe you"
I think he shut down the "internal" comments stuff. Unfortunately not really to my satisfaction, as I'm keen to want more info and how he dealt with it etc.
