so his real anxiety if we lost 0-5 was the perception of him? please dont ever argue that this man isnt extremley egotistical.
At least he himself admits he was mocking.
You're just doing too much, fella.
Most of us are hoping he works out and gets it all together (respecting the fans in the process), but he's been very clear - and unashamed - about forging on with his model, come what may.
He's been true to that and reluctant to pull our methodology too far away from that to turn certain games around.
I understand it to a degree - as he wants to ingrain a principle - but it has clearly led to him heaping tons of pressure on himself that he can't deal with, which translated into him being petrified to lose the city game, for the impact it may have on his image.
If we'd have done the stock, solid adjustments that could have turned many of our loses around, I don't think this situation would have held such a threat to him.
I think it's a bit rich, in the circumstances, for him to now flex on his tactical flexibility.
Seriously.
Just sounds like more sensitivity lash-out.
If you have a strict system such as he does, he must be prepared for the criticism and heat that comes with it and find a way to absorb it.
He himself told us it would be ropey and rocky and we may lose a fair bit.
He needs to now learn how to cope with the extra scrutiny and criticism that comes with being at a -success starved - premier league club.
He's on a learning curve, but he has to learn quick.
I can see Ange feeling like he was in an invidious position.
But find it concerning that it was the thought of what would be thought of him, if we got hammered, that kicked him into being hyper-motivated - and clearly charged the players up as such - to play as ferociously as we did, with a significant tactical upgrade implemented.
Also:
"It could have gone a very different way [City battering us] - without anything changing from us - just by man city being man city."
Ok, so you already had a built-in feasible reason for any level of loss, Ange.
No anxiety needed. Should have leant on that.
It was an inescapable potential outcome in playing city - in the form they had been in and the amount of goals they were scoring - regardless.
He said this before the game:
"I think the last 48 hours have revealed the foundations are fairly fragile - outside the club, inside the club, everywhere.."
He's now converted that into: "I couldn't sit there and be disingenuous and say our foundations were strong, because we'd lost 5 out of 6 games"
And he finessed that as being the players' fault, due to lack of discipline (nothing to do with set pieces, Ange?)
I mean, have I got that wrong?? lol
Anyway, presser could have been much worse.
So, thankful for that.
Didn't know what to expect.
He was calm and considered and held a good tone (important to laugh at the VAR stuff to lighten things).
As far as I'm concerned, I want to see the same level of managerial performance put through the players in that city game, as the baseline for us moving forward.
SU need to get mercilessly battered.
And that's what I expect.
Spurs fan Likes Spurs manager, what a scary thoughtWhy would I need to know him personally to know people have been posting his shit all season and all he’s done is constantly bang on about him and only ever post positives? He’s a fan. There’s nothing wrong with that but posting his opinions as if he’s remotely objective is hilarious.
The guy may well know his stuff when it comes to football. Probably does. But it’s clear he admires Ange a lot and nailed his colours to the mast the day he got here. An Ange fan is only going to post positive stuff about Ange.

Yeah 25 years nearly of no success (apart from Carling cup). Sky high ticket prices, average players. Managers that rarely last a full season these days. Yet fans keep turning up & spending a small fortune. The last one’s to take any blame should be the fans.Yeah it was an ‘ interesting exercise’ watching wolves take 6 points off us this season. Watching Woolwich go three up in thirty minutes, watching players jog about at Stamford bridge.
I could go on. But won’t. Not bothered if this bloke stays or goes now, he has been given fantastic support by us all season and we get this hissy fit?
Ange, go and work or live near Woolwich fans for 25 years then talk to us fans about weak foundations, we are the only strong foundations at this club. Mate.
Already said that if Ange doesn't make his peace with the Prem being a unique proposition and doesn't OK proper technical players to fit his system here (no more Johnsons!!!), then he will likely be gone by Christmas, regardless of what I think, because for it to work, consistently, with rotation, he must have a technical SQUAD.
lol he threw the players under the bus, mate.he said him, but for sure he is protecting the players too - He doesn't want anyone in his staff or team to be called into question for not giving their all - He has a reputation to uphold in the footballing world and maybe he was too proud or precious about it but I can understand not wanting his integrity to be called into question
I’d rather he focus & put more of his energy on winning at football than changing the fans. Modern fans are shit anyway & the least of our problems. The amount of time, energy & emotion he gave In changing the fan’s mentality is really puzzling. I don’t think it will change us in to winning things. He is putting far too much weight on fans in winning at football. I think he a losing the plot with going down that route. Maybe he is right & Woolwich fans have been great the last 2 years & they deserve lots of praise to contributing towards their big rise. But I disagree, they have nothing to do with it. It’s far more about the owners.A self loathing fanbase that almost will on the whole "bottling" narrative that surrounds the club.
Manager comes along that wants to change that and not scared to call it out and they can't handle it.
They do, they just zone out anything good a focus totally on the bad.Bang on!
I also find it weird too when people cite the Chav game over and over as "we only play all-out high-line attacking football no matter what". He brings on PEH to shore up games most games for starters, it's like no one watches the game.
Ridiculous isn't it? For the last few days, all we've had is whining about him not understanding the rivalry. Now he holds his hands up to that and the whining continues.Jesus Christ he's said he got it wrong. Fucking move on and stop whinging.
Obviously we need to give him more time.Yeah 25 years nearly of no success (apart from Carling cup). Sky high ticket prices, average players. Managers that rarely last a full season these days. Yet fans keep turning up & spending a small fortune. The last one’s to take any blame should be the fans.
It Feels like his attack on the fans was a clear deflection tactic from how crap he has us performing lately. & a problem he is struggling to fix.
I like him even though I think he will be too limited & basic to take us to the top. But this was a mistake. & his ,no messing about, blunt geezer’ act is wearing a bit thin now. Especially when we are losing all the time.
Unfortunately, what is holding us back, will continue to do so unless the problem is removed.I’d rather he focus & put more of his energy on winning at football than changing the fans. Also far more successful managers than him have been here & told us all ‘the owners & levy’ are the biggest problem holding us back. He would do well to listen to them. I think he did attack the owners/levy too in that rant. So if he calms down & thinks properly. Who will help me most to turn this in to a top football team. Really good owners or really good fans. If he still thinks the fans is the answer then he is being foolish.
