Management Ange Postecoglou

Latest Spurs videos from Sky Sports

5/10 for me. Not all has to do with Potecoglu. Started excellently, injuries exposed our lack of depth. We were likely the most fouled team at some point and somehow also had the most yellow cards. Referee’s outside of that stupid Liverpool error gave us nothing and it truly makes me question the integrity of this league.

In the end we had an excellent chance at Top 4 and failed miserably, which is a massive lost opportunity. Our management team is stubborn, and they come across at times as naive and inflexible. Not dealing with set pieces until the last games of the season, where Vicario finally had some protection.

On the positive side Postecoglu always seems to get the better out of players in the second half, is well spoken, has experience rebuilding sides and winning. With a more a refined coaching staff and new players suited for kamikaze football maybe we will be up there fighting for 4th next year.

Would say it's been a solid 6 out of 10 season with lots of improvement but plenty of room for growth next season.

Happy to be back in Europe again and considering we have lost Kane I would say this is a good start but it's imperative we push on next season, get some quality signings in through the door in the next window and we need to build towards two quality players in every position if Ange wants to meet his target of winning the PL.

So yeah, overall above average and pleased with the progress being made but the last 2 months have shown there is plenty to be improved upon both in terms of quality players and also coaching staff and I would like to see more flexibility from Ange in his approach to some games which I hope we can see next season.

COYS.

Has at least tried to get us paying good football, coped with the Kane sale, has done well with Udogie, VDV and Porro. 66 pts and 5th would have been acceptable start of the season.

Negatives, 4th was there for the taking after beating Villa and we blew it when it mattered, dreadful in the cups but unlucky draws tbf , the football has been mostly poor and disjointed in 2024, set piece and defensive weakness. Downwards trajectory through the season.

Quite difficult to judge, maybe 6 out of 10. I was happy enough with the appointment but have been a bit dissapointed overall. We need some good signings this summer and he needs a good start to next season.
Yeah, pretty much where I sit on things as well, I was being very lenient in my appraisal for the season if I am honest but I think you have nailed it with your assessment.

My issues with Ange are that I just don't think we look solid enough under his system to challenge for major trophies.

Teams find it so easy to create chances against us. There has been no improvement in that as the season has gone on, in fact it's got worse.

He's also made some really bizarre decisions, like playing Royal at LB instead of moving VDV there, when all the fans could see it was the obvious solution. Those are basically really big errors which cost us points in the pursuit of top 4.

I just feel we look too open, and not well organised.

It is clear he isn't going anywhere so all I can hope is that we have a really good window and start well next season, we say this every summer but it really is crucial this year. It is imperative we are aggressive in the market and bring in some top talent.

No more Brennan Johnson's for 50 million thanks, we need top quality.

We really need to click. Ange needs to do far better and he needs to get some results against our rivals, no more pathetic derby performances. The likes of Newcastle, Chelsea and possibly Liverpool and United will be better next season. The league will be as competitive as ever, and at this moment in time under Ange I think we are really far from where we need to be, in contrast I'd be much more confident if I was a Chelsea or Newcastle fan with how their teams have ended the season.

5th in the Premier League, two early cup exits and no Europe. In the league overall I would say a decent to good league season. First three months or so fantastic - far in advance of what I expected. I felt Ange would struggle more early on. We did an amazing job at the start and that raised expectations, but the tail off in 2024 was a bit worrying. Overall, you’d have to say we performed slightly above expectations in the league (with no Kane either) but looked better early on. We did well in the period when we had no suspensions too, it was in the last few months that were mostly poor. Van de Ven and Romero very good, Vicario good but poor at corners, Udogie promising.

The forward line and midfield need tightening – a true defensive midfielder is needed as well as forwards who hold the ball better. I'm expecting a lot of ins and outs in the summer and surgery is needed on the squad. I like Ange but am not fully convinced by him, though he’s done quite well when you consider the hand he was dealt at the start of the season.

League only - 7/10, adding in cups maybe 6, 6.5.

spot on! has anyone in the press actually questioned him on this? clear error in understanding his team with that silly choice. like you say that cost us top 4! not fans wanting Woolwich to not win the league.

as you say lets hope we have a good summer. i dont trust the recruitment though after werner and johnson being brought in to upgrade that awful frontline! johnson is the sort of buy you'd expect someone to make coming from really poor standards of football. like giving a pauper some proper money for food and instead of going STK they go mcdonalds cos thats all they know.

He already explained the reason why he never played VDV there before. His reason was it’s a completely different position physically and was wary because of VDV hamstring problems. Royal and Skippy must have hurt his eyes that much that he had no choice.
