This kid is going to thrive under Ange:
I Can Do It GIF by Britannia

Regularly have spats with you about ENIC but did admit to being happy with the January window . Quite a bit needs doing this summer , however I do try to be balanced and I think Gray is a fantastic start . I know some will slag this transfer off as “ just a kid , we need the finished article”. I think this kid is capable of forcing his way into the team and his ceiling is very high

Credit where it’s due , I constantly sleight Levy for transfers so I’m not going to say this is down to Lange . If it is well Levy hired him , so here we go

Well played Danny Boy , keep up the good work , lots to do

That's because you're not a complete man child who's only motivation for supporting this team is to get off when we are in perceived bad moments.

I know nothing about him...is this a good signing?
Impossible to say but he's talented, can cover 2 positions (RB & No 6) and will be classed as home grown and club trained in 3 years. Ticks a lot of boxes. He won the championship young player of the year and is playing 2 levels up for England U21s. I think its a good signing but time will tell. You can certainly see why the club went for him.

Played 50+ games (Over 4,000 mins) for Leeds in Championship last season, and has two E u21 caps ..... although only turned 18 in March.

So very highly rated, no need for him to be regular starter in first team so I think Ange will pencil in say 20 games for him at RB or DM and see how he fares ...... and if he lives up to his reputation he'll end up playing 40 games this season.

Huge upside potential.

Can’t understand why we only moved for him after he‘d agreed a deal and had a medical at Brentford.
I suspect the deal with Brentford broke down because we were in negotiations at the same time. We offered better than Brentford, and that's why Leeds refused the deal.

I also suspect that Grey's representatives we're also made an offer, now they're just dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

In all likelihood, Gray was sent for 2 medicals, so they could get this done, with one or the other, in time to meet PSR requirements. So if one fell through, they didn't waste a further day or two getting a medical booked in.

I really want us to buy another striker, preferrably a number 9, but the links really dont seem to be there. I think if we end the window without one it will be a huge mistake. Trouble is, I suspect the club doesnt see value anywhere.

The striker market is really poor unless there is some hidden gem they can find i reckon they will just take a punt on a cheapish option like Jonathan David at £30m or Toney at £40m and hope for the best.

The added problem is the quality winger market appears to be thinning a bit as well with Olise and Williams both off the table and Neto perma crocked. Can think.of Kubo and/or Doue but never seen either of them so no idea if they are good enough.

I know that sounds great for us to have that depth. But do you really think that Eze really wants to share game time and play out of position when he could play a full game at number 10 at any other club.
He'll either back himself to start or he won't. If he won't, he'll spend the rest of his career as a 'big fish in a little pond' starter for lower sides.

Do you think he'd turn down Utd because Fernandez is there? Would he turn down City because Foden is there?

He'll get plenty of game time, in his favoured position here, and he'll know that, so he'll know he'll have plenty of opportunity to keep Maddison on the bench. For all we know as well, they may just be superb on the pitch together.

As I posted before, it's a squad game. With potentially 60 or so games to be played, the squad will get full use. Then it's up to the players to maintain their form if they want the Lion's share of that game time.

Healthy, quality competition for places is what we need if we are to mount any kind of challenge, either this season or next.

Quite a turnround in buying strategy over the last few years - we are buying a couple of players most summers who are long term bets eg Sarr, Lankshear, Soonsup-Bell, Phillips, Bergvall and now Gray.

Its a good strategy as we may buy a young player who we'd struggle to get when he's older.

Sarr looks to have been a good buy after a full season in PL, and I have hopes for the others in the next year or two.

And add in youngsters who have come through our youth system eg Parrott, Donley, Moore, Devine, Santiago, Dorrington, Abbott et al, all of whom might make it into first team consideration (although most will not) and we should have an interesting squad refresh in future years of thise bought for the 'here and now' mixed with a few youngsters that have grown at Spurs.

Gudmundsson legal issue

Page 22 of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport details how Inter and Tottenham’s interest in Gudmundsson could be put on hold due to a serious legal battle in Iceland, where he was accused of sexual assault by a woman he met in a Reykjavik night club in the summer of 2023.

The case was initially closed by a district attorney back in February, but this has now been overturned by Iceland’s attorney general following an appeal by the alleged victim. He has reportedly been indicted and is now expected to be charged, with a possible trial taking place later this year
well after Bissouma it seems we don’t really care about this sort of thing (obviously, innocent until proven guilty)

If they wanted a cheaper punt on a striker they are letting Guirassy go Dortmund and Zirkzee go Utd for a 40m release clause.

Either they want a marquee #9 or they are planning for a different type of Forward imo

It's weird how Brentford keep attempting to sign Spurs targets and fucking it up.

Nusa went South too.

Cool! Haven’t seen much of him but hope he’s in the Dele/Wharton/eze bracket that can step up.

Glad we’re up and running! A lot more still to do!

Do we think he’ll play mostly FB for us or as a DM?

We still need a dribbly winger - Doue
Attacking mid to compete with mad - Eze (can also play wide)
A striker (fuck knows…)

Then a left sided defender that can play LCB & LB

Also a 6 prob…

Plus a lot of ours

Hojbjerg, Regulion, Lo celso, Spence etc etc

Crikey.
Get the right winger in (Williams, Doue, whoever it will be that can move the needle) and I think that a striker becomes less of an issue. Both Son and Richarlison can play the top role, and a quality winger would feed them both to their preferred style. Son would most especially benefit, as it severely reduces his need to play with his back to goal, he'd be running into the ball rather than have to hold it up and play others in.

Eze, top winger and Gray would be a good window IMO, then worry about the striker role next season. That's if it isn't already solved by then, should anyone of Parrott, Scarlett or Lankshear happen to make the step up, with Son and Richarlison already here.
