How Dry should our Powder be?

I don't know I'm not Eze but, we need depth. We cannot start the season with one creative midfielder. Maddison will not last the season without injury. Eze challenges Maddison for the starting spot too.
I know many of you won’t like this, but it seems pretty clear to me that we aren’t selling Kulu this window, and that he will be a utility attacker across the front line, including backing up Maddison.

Our attacking midfield is one of those glaring holes. An inconsistent and fragile Maddison can’t be relied on to play the 50+ games we’ll have next season. He was rubbish for most of last season.

£70m on a top class player like Eze a no-brainer for me. We don’t have enough in our midfield right now.
That's all well and good, but what if £70m on Eze prevents us from buying a proper striker, or a decent RW? I agree Maddison needs competition but those are most urgent upgrades for me.

Also, might it not be worth seeing if Bergvall can compete with Maddison in the #10 first?

It's weird how Brentford keep attempting to sign Spurs targets and fucking it up.

Nusa went South too.

No out ball there though with them at 9 and you need that in the PL. We simply have to get a forward in who can hold up the ball and win fouls up the pitch. Without one it just keeps coming back and we will have a similar season like last year when we couldn’t defend from the front and it cost us so many goals.
The out ball needs to be the wingers. If they're doing their job right, they should be stretching the pitch to give us that wide out ball, as defenders will usually tuck in when the play is advanced.

Hitting a "target man" up the centre if the pitch is outdated. With defenders tucked in, you're just playing a low percentage punt, unless your striker is dropping deep to lay the ball off to incoming midfielders, and both Son & Richarlison are capable of that. Drop deep, lay off, then turn into space. The midfielders should then be playing the ball out wide to the wingers, whilst the striker is then running into a channel.

I honestly feel that an elite, or near elite, winger would transform us more than an elite, or near elite, striker would.

They are stacked in those positions

Unless someone is leaving, this is maybe Rennes trying to drum up the price
Bayern are not stacked in the OMF position.
They have Thomas Müller who's turning 35 and , Jamal Musiala, who can also play as a WF.
With Kingsley Coman, and Serge Gnabry expected to leave and Bryan Zaragoza yet to "produce" there could be plenty of playing time for Désiré Doué.
In fact, it could be a very shrewd move by Bayern

Just signed Olise

Means they need to sell Sane, Gnabry and Coman before adding much?

to be honest is playing for England the "privilege" it once might have been?

I'm not English so this is very much from the outside, granted.

From what I can see English people seem to hate the national team, the press do nothing but expect big then dig them out, "fans" turn on players in an instant especially if they play for a rival team cause "club football is everything"

it seems miserable, effigies of Beckham, Fans booing Rooney on the pitch, online abuse, racist abuse etc etc

he'd prob enjoy life more if he played for Scotland..

Just an opinion........... don't kill me.
Grealish and Rice recent examples to say it is. On top of sporting reasons a lot more lucrative with sponsorship

Giving Udogie and Sarr game time last season and giving Gray and Bergvall minutes this season (as well as our young academy players) will do us a world of good of tempting the best young players in world football to come here.

I really hope we make a big push for Doue.

We bought another 18 year old. If Ange is going to play him in the first team off the Bat, then Yay. If he not going to be in our starting 11, it's just another Levy Punt. I'd much rather we'd take the 40 million and buy a decent No 6. I for once want to see a Squad of my mature players ready to fight for a trophy.
