Another element to consider is that for an 18/19 year old, Spurs have been one of the top clubs in Europe for all of their football-watching life. No trophies but plenty of Champions League adventures and great players. Best stadium, best training ground, London etc. etc.
I don't think they attach the mental baggage that we do as fans of 30 years + from the dark days of the 90s and early 2000s.

It's the same way most of us saw Guler last year when we were linked and just knew he was going to be special. Fast forward a year, he's a Real Madrid player and been brilliant at the Euros.
The way we all saw Lamal, at 16, destroy us in pre season and now he's ripping it up at the Euros at the same age after having a great year in La Liga.
The ease of being able to switch either foot, the manipulation of the ball to fool opponents, sometimes without even touching it. These little things that in highlight reels look like special moments but in real time prove he's on a different level to those around him.
Doue will be one we look back on in a few years time and say to ourselves we should have done more. I almost guarantee it.
Gil, Nkoudou, Njie and everyone else that people have mentioned are being lazy in comparison. Neither of these guys had anything special about them. It's almost disrespectful to even compare Doue to them, because he's that far ahead of them three on a technical level already.
