How Dry should our Powder be?

A club of our financial stature should be able to sign all three of Toney, Eze and Doué.

£130m.

Get it done, baldy.

(Never going to happen, mind)

Hopefully this gets done.

First offer for Emerson Royal

Meanwhile, Milan have submitted a first offer to Tottenham for Emerson Royal: there is still a distance between supply and demand, with the next ten days being decisive for the profile that has been identified as the right name for the band. Both on the right and on the left, the 1999 class pleases for its ductility. In the last season he has collected 24 total appearances: his contract with the 'spurs' expires on June 30, 2026.

Don't think he's a bad footballer per se, he's just so clearly not the type of winger for the brand of football Ange wants to play (high possession, high pressing).

Brennan is a classic counter attacking inside forward; good when he's got space to run into, but put him up out on the right touchline and task him with dribbling a low block and he's absolutely useless.

He can't take a player on from a standing start, can't go both sides, doesn't have a left foot, can't cut inside, he isn't good at holding possession, isn't a particularly good passer, and can't finish to save his life. Additionally he's weak defensively and a bad presser, two things which are pretty much unforgivable in this system.

What he does have is (1) got a good low cross on him he can whip in from the byline and (2) he's good at arriving late in the box and getting on the end of crosses himself, although whether he can finish those is pretty hit and miss. That's about it.

What am I missing? Do people really think this is the sort of profile of winger that's gonna take us up a notch?

As for Ange, yes it does raise big red flags that Brennan was his number one target last summer that we're (1) already looking to upgrade, assuming the Neto reports are true, and (2) the rumoured replacement, Neto, while a much more appropriate profile for our system has one of the worst injury records I've ever seen.
He's the best presser in our squad. NO ONE wins the ball back as high and as often as him. (As a team we have the best PPDA in the league - the stat used to measure pressing effectiveness).

Some of the other stuff you say might be true, especially around 1v1's but we've found ways for him to beat the oppo and to get to the bye line.

Jonhson brought in as cover found himself thrust into the first 11 much earlier on than was expected, we will see this coming season if that has been of benefit to him with an accelerated learning of what Ange wants.

We are targeting 1v1 dribblers which is exciting and fits closely our biggest requirement in our attacking threat.

Another fucking Nostradamus

Sweet
I thought it was enough with a Confusius?!?!

He actually looked decent in the few games he played. Remember him setting up a couple of goals for Sonny early in the season. Skilful player.

One game against Burnley, one of weakest teams in PL and relegated, he got 2 assists for Son who was on fire. Only started 2 matches, the other against Sheffield U another weak team but made no impression. 3 other sub appearances.

For Fulham - only 4 PL starts, subbed on 15 times 4 goals (3 as a sub) ,no assists. 5 appearances in FA Cup 1 goal no assists. Out injured for 4 months.

Based upon his Fulham and Spurs stats. I'd suggest he was our weakest/least effective forward, alongside Bryan Gil, and consequently probably the easiest to significantly upgrade (providing we can offload both Gil and Solomon).

If we can't offload him, I'd hope Ange takes the opportunity to give some of our youngsters game time - we have a lot of left sided attacking players including 16 year old Mikey Moore, Troy Parrott 22 year old CF/LW and 21 year old Santiago (LW) who might all be more productive than Solomon without taking up an overseas trained squad place,

I am now just waiting for Atletico Madrid to make some loan offers with an option to buy for half the market values of Emerson and Højbjerg and keep on turning their heads with empty promises...until they withdraw their bids on the last day of the TW...

Spot on

Thanks.

The other thing I forgot to add is Solomon becomes age 25 later this month so isn't likely to markedly improve - for some reason most fans seem to believe he's youngster rather than a seasoned player
I think he’s a half decent PL player but massive concerns over injury record and don’t see him being an improvement on who played last season. Much rather try yoots than 25 year squad fillers
