Maybe not yet, but he's certainly knocking on the door. He certainly showed his quality tonight.
As people have mentioned his pace is great and his ball playing ability is high just for me I like a CB who dominates the box and Mickey isn't there yet. Probably spent too long watching Mike England and for just one seasonRichard Gough.Dont get me wrong I really like him just not a £100m player yet,

If he stays injury free, he will be, regardless of the pricetag, that much I'm extremely confident of.

He's another that is quite a few years off his prime, especially as a CB. He might lose a yard or two of pace as he gets older, but he's already showing maturity in his role.

As I posted earlier, he's definitely knocking on the door.

He's the best presser in our squad. NO ONE wins the ball back as high and as often as him. (As a team we have the best PPDA in the league - the stat used to measure pressing effectiveness).

Some of the other stuff you say might be true, especially around 1v1's but we've found ways for him to beat the oppo and to get to the bye line.

Jonhson brought in as cover found himself thrust into the first 11 much earlier on than was expected, we will see this coming season if that has been of benefit to him with an accelerated learning of what Ange wants.

We are targeting 1v1 dribblers which is exciting and fits closely our biggest requirement in our attacking threat.

Good post, people honestly make me laugh the way they speak about Johnson as if he's 27 and entering his prime, guys only 22 and they act as if he can't improve or mature.

We’ve still got plenty of bargain bin players to fob off on other clubs. Gil, Solomon, Lo Celso and Reguilon are still here.

Always our problem and whilst they stay, they are never replaced with the quality of player we need to go up a level.

Yet people still happily perpetuate this stupid fucking narrative about signing "back ups" and "squad players". Signing shit players is why we are in a perpetual state of catch up. Until we catch City at the top, the only types of player we should be signing is one that improves our starting lineup now or one that is young enough and good enough to develop into one that can improve our starting lineup very soon.

Really need to get a hurry on with these outgoings to have any chance at bringing in the level we need to catch the title chasers.

May as well release Solomon on a free.

Davies we probably should release on a free and allow him to choose his next club.

Reguillon slash the price down, PEH and GLC slash those prices right down as well.

Color me shocked that teams aren’t lining up to take our crap players off our books.

15 direct goal involvements in 32 league matches isn't a decent return for your first season?

Ok then :ledley:
Such a simplistic way of looking at things, look deeper than the stats.

1. "15 goal involvements" so are we saying 5 goals in 32 games is a good return for a winger at a club with ambitions of winning things?
2. Of those "goal involvements" only two came against top 8 sides. The assist vs Liverpool (when we were 4 nil down) and the goal against Villa. He is not a difference maker against the best sides.

He is a decent squad option to roll out against lesser sides but he is not keeping any Woolwich/City defenders up at night before a game.

If we go into the season with him as our starting winger we will win fuck all. Upgrade needed.
