How Dry should our Powder be?

Yes we have fantastic revenue and we should be spending more of it on good players but am I the only one who reads that a bit differently?

Aside from the fact we have only just moved above Chelsea and Woolwich, we are now have the 8th highest revenue in Europe compared to Bayern at 6th but Bayern are head and shoulders above anyone else in their league and have the historical pull of being the biggest fish in their pond with almost guaranteed (sorry Harry) success.

We have just moved from 6th to 4th in the PL and although we are 8th now in Europe, 6 of the top 10 are competing in the PL also. Even small clubs like West ham dwarf European giants who dominate their own leagues.

Not saying we cant spend but people flash that up as a justification that we should be outspending people but its just not that straight forward. Having money is one thing but have serious competition in out own league and then the traditional pull of 'big' foreign clubs who earn less but can dominate their leagues.

Not to mention the fact that it's fucking Bayern they can literally stockpile a load of players because they just can, they can sell the dream to these players

Let me know when we have forward talent such as:

Sane, Musiala, Gnabry, Tel, Kane, Coman, Olise and Muller at our club and then able to turn the heads of Doue and Simons, it's more about prestige than revenue but cause we make a lot of money people think we can entice the same level of players and keep them happy, people just need to come back to reality.

You’ve showed that Bayern can sign one Harry Kane a season more than us.

If every other Harry Kane you sign is Euro 2024 Kane, you’re still going to have a significantly stronger squad over time.

Also, that gap has narrowed significantly in recent times. It was much larger for most of time.

To compare us to Bayern is hilarious

Could we start with signing just 1 Harry Kane first? Then we can talk about signing 1 more Harry Kane than us.

By your logic we should be able to sign one more Harry Kane than the gooners, right? Are we expecting that to happen this summer?

Teams do also ask premier league teams for more money because they associate the league with being wealthy.

Bayern get dibs on every Bundesliga player as well, especially the Germans. Any top player outside their club there wants to join them and will push for it and run their contract down even, so they rarely have to pay huge fees.

The prestige and reputation is absolutely a factor when it comes to attracting players.

But you can't just accept your position below the prestige teams. I get that the stadium was about not accepting our place below them and building long-term to catch them up. The question is now if we are going to do what it takes to fully capitalize on the football team from the extra stadium revenue.

We ain't paying £50m for Gallagher, even if he didn't play for Chelsea.
I'm still convinced this is all bollocks. Too much bad blood. As much chance of us signing from them as signing from Woolwich.
...and yet it can happen the other way round, and we STILL get shafted!
:cunt:

Gallagher being a Chelsea fan SHOULDN'T matter...

It didn't matter to Arse fans that Campbell was a Spurs fan... It was one up on us!

Granted, Gallagher doesn't have anywhere near Sol's ability AS a footballer...
But us getting him from Chelsea SHOULD annoy them way more than it does us!

Seems extremely unlikely we complete our important business in the next 10 days
But you never know, just hope the manager knows this is how we roll and is cool with it.

In the meantime some words the great Hercules.

This is the market. Don’t blame the club. My money is on Eze as of today and what I heard.
