Archie Gray is on about £70k a week apparently. And that's probably max wages based on performance.
Top players, signed for top fees will earn 2 or 3 times that. Plus all the other fees and back handers. Plus the payment terms with the club you're buying from.

And yet our wage turnover is the lowest in the PL. 46% of one of the highest incomes in world football.
And we wonder why we sign players that often don't perform.

Gray will be up there with the best paid 18 year olds in the prem.

We can expect the club to be signing a forward up there with the best paid in the prem

People still talking themselves into Ivan Toney. This fan base is properly brow-beaten by Levynomics.

Manifest Gyokeres or Openda. Refuse to even discuss Toney as being possible. This club has the money and the means to go and get their top targets, fans need to start expecting and accepting nothing less.

And let's be fair to the club, they just had the conviction to spend big money on Archie Gray at 18 from the Championship. It's probably even realistic to think they might now go and make the investment on our top targets.
Not convinced by Openda at all. He just doesn’t seem physical enough to play as a sole focal point in tbe PL for me. He kinda reminds me of Defoe. Good player, but needs someone to do the donkey work.

so son is a better striker than toney because he will come off the left hahahah. gota ya.

did you not pay attention last year?? son is fucking shit as a striker! cant head the ball, hasnt got any fight in duals! literally needs space to get shots away. useless.
Toney scored 4 goals in half a season, and one of those was a dodgy free kick that probably should have been retaken. Son scored 17.

I’d say we don’t need to replace PEH and skipp give these guys a go place any from the academy. Manure did it with mainoo. Everyone moaned about boregate not being brave well it’s time for the club and Ange to be brave. We should be buying players just for the sake of it as replacements and squad fillers. If anyone can say buying a £25M average player is better than giving g say a gray or bergvhall a chance is good then no help. Save the £25M to go for some proper quality in positions we need.

I don't think we have to sign a central midfielder this summer at all and tbh if Spence has knuckled down, we don't need a LB either.

Which means all of our resources can be spent on two positions than the potential four we needed previously.

That’s not the argument. Toney is a better centre forward. Toney is playing with Brentford. Toney would score easily 15 plus with us. Sonny is not a good centre forward in our system because we play against low blocks. He can’t hold the ball up well enough. He needs space in front of him

"no doubt there will be a couple more additions but I'm comfortable with where we're at.”

:angeshock:.........:levywhoa:

And just like that the coffers closed for another window.

Would love to know what the actual transfer strategy is and what Ange was referring to end of last season. We have our plans in place and players identified or words to that effect, instead we get that non exec director based in SF going on about the “ experience” whatever that means.

I think Eze was one of the targets and we would pay for him with the money from outgoings.

The outgoings haven't happened, the market for 2nd tier players is rock bottom and Spurs overvalued their driftwood.

Now they don't have the money to spend and are a scrambling for cheaper alternatives to their original targets.
Thought we had the money only one of a handful of clubs who do or can actually spend without breaking any psr or ffp?

Agreed and we can actually spend good money on quality rather than spreading it around thin as Bobby charltons barnet😀

I was very hopeful Gray would be able to make an impact straight away , not just on you tube clips but more importantly the rage of the Leeds fan in my office when we signed him , more convinced he can after last night.

I was hopeful Bergvall could do the same , a greater risk as it was based purely on you tube clips . After last night I think he will make an impact also .

We now need to sign 2 or 3 quality experienced players in key positions .

Hopeful Djed Spence does not lose his alarm clock , could be a big saving on a Royal replacement.

We won’t spend load of money for a striker as long as Richy is here due to Levy and how we operate. Prolly we go for someone like Toney (as long as price is around 30mln) - so in theory backup, but in reality he will play a lot since Richy is almost never fully fit - so it’s more like 1A/1B tandem. Then kid like Veliz or Lankshear (sometimes Kulu/Son) as 3rd option. In the future (year? Two?) we move somehow Richy and then, either of kids will be Kane regen - or we go for bona fide striker. That’s how I read situation (but not saying I agree with this approach).

If we go into the season with Richy and son as our striker options we are pretty much giving up. I’d sell Richy now. If he can’t even get himself fit for the first friendly of the season we’ve got real problems. Just get Toney or whoever in and be done with it.
Rich is not generally good enough and his always injured normally not even through playing games. Yet people go on about Neto and olmo injury record.

Concur with not really needing a central midfielder now. We need 2 attacking players that go straight into the team, no idea if that is Eze and a CF or Chiesa/Neto or whoever but we need 2.

I also think need a good left centre back/full back option. The drop off when VDV is out is too big as we need that pace. Lastly we need another keeper which seems to be missed. Bad injury to Vicario in September then we're in trouble with Forster/Austin for a few months.

We were talking striker, not centre forward though. Not the same thing to me, we don’t play with a traditional centre forward, at least not since early years Kane.

Brentford set up with 2 wide players to feed Toney, Mbeumo and Wissa are decent as well, but only 4 goals in 17 starts (3 in open play). A goal every 4 games is worse than Richi.
