Top clubs hold onto players while they are excellent, and sell when they are less so and nearing the end of their prime.

Spurs used to purchase young and talented, until they were just hitting their prime, and sold at the start of that prime (ala modric, bale, berbatov).

That we no longer do that is a good thing. Top teams hold on to top players when they are excellent. They sell for less when they are past their peak playing career.

Not correct. Modric, Bale and Berbatov all forced their sale against the clubs wishes. It wasn’t a strategy for Spurs.

Good luck to him. Hope we got a good fee

Chill mate, I'm not saying we shouldn't do the deal lol. It's just lower than I expected, and not particularly good of Spurs to only get £10m for a player of Hoj's quality in his prime. Could easily have gone for £30m at one stage.
Most on here , especially me moan about Levy overcooking the asking price for unwanted players . I won’t be a hypocrite and moan now he is to cheap . I’ll leave the massive hypocrisy for other aspects of my life, like telling my wife anything she wants to hear for an easy life

He was worth that even last summer but nobody wanted to pay it, which was the problem. Not a club he wanted to go to anyway. I suspect we will have the same problem with Richy.

(fuck me, that’s too many posts from me in quick succession, I’ll shut up for a bit!)

Worrying isn't it. All this talk of Ramsey, Gallagher, Eze etc but we need about 3 starting-quality forwards before we should even be thinking about bringing in another midfielder. Our scouting has clearly improved but I worry about our squad building under Ange/Lange.
Yeah definitely agree with that. If we don’t get better players for those positions then it’s literally throwing Ange under the bus because if we have a similar season the crackpots will turn on him and inevitably it goes one way. We have the best manager we’ve had since the 80s so give him the fucking tools to win something. Ramsey or Gallagher stinks of signing a player just because they are English or to offload someone else but it doesn’t improve us.
