My mate works at the canteen at Spurs and said Maddison has exclusively eaten cereals since his return as a form of protest until we make a certain signing he believes to have the potential of forming a grreat partnership with.

Call it ITK if you must, just the way it is.

But we did let teams get through us at will ?

Yes, we conceded goals faster (per minute out of possession) than any other team except Sheffield.

I think that's in no small part structural (ie Ange) but also partly personnel, especially during the injury crisis. It's no surprise that the are plenty of comments on this thread about needing to recruit a DM and cover for LB/LCB/RB.

Playing Angeball, we're always going to leak goals faster than other teams around us on the table, but we need to close the gap considerably. Hopefully the arrival of Radu, Archie and Lucas, a revitalised Biss and a reformed Djed, will go a long way. But I wouldn't be surprised if Ange made some tactical tweaks as well after his first year in the EPL.

You make it sound like we were in a relegation battle last season. We just missed 4th and were going great until Maddison got injured. He ran Ange's system, our wingers and striker were runners that were fed by Maddison passes. When he went down most of the creativity was gone but we still found a way to score more goals than when Kane was there.
So we're effectively relying on maddison being fit all season and for him to put together the type of consistency that Messi and Ronaldo used to? I don't know if you forgot but we were fucking dreadful in the run in and average at best after our fantastic early season form. We need to stop pretending everything is OK and it's going to be great when it isn't as it currently stands. After Ange's comments after the city game and in the weeks after he's saying he wants to win things. That team from last season will be doing the same thing this season as it did last without quality first 11 upgrades.

I’m with you on Gyokeres but there’s hardly any links to him…

You’d think deki and Lucas could put a word in they could be our new Belgians/Croatians
There have been some very tentative links, though not recently I believe.
All of which means sweet FA to be honest. We are leaking absolutely nothing to the media so, as usual, they are just throwing names around. As they have little to no imagination though, they're just throwing out well known names.

The long and the short of it is that we will only actually know who we're in for when the deal is pretty much done. Essentially, we're back to the ceefax days of transfer reporting.

If the alt is watching Richy fail to control a football ten times per game, or Son cower and fold when a CB goes near him, sign the Gooner up

Nah.

Toney went 10 starts without scoring a goal last season. Criminally overrated player and his lack of work rate without the ball would cost us points. When he got dropped for Sonny he'd throw his toys out the pram. If he somehow played well, he'd throw his toys out the pram for a move to the gooners.

Toney would be a brilliant signing.
I'm not as against this as many on here, though I do have reservations that have been repeated on here ad nauseum, so I won't regurgitate them.

He has a definite skillset that I do think would translate to us. He's mobile, intelligent, can link up and also has predatory instincts. I do think he'd offer more than Richarlison.

I don't know enough about our alternative striker options to comment or compare though, but that's the clubs job.

Toney might be an underwhelming signing for many, but I'm kind of on the fence.

The striker market is honestly crap and whilst that's not a reason to sign Toney he represents an out and out better option to the alternative at the moment and much more affordable.

I don't think we can have another season of Richy picking up injuries and being inconsistent and Son struggling sometimes to play up there.

If you really want my opinion who the club should be targeting it's Solanke as he's literally the perfect fit but £60m though...plus this fanbase is gonna be pissed off if we sign him because he's not a fancy name.
